Wintertime Beauty at Callaway Gardens - Part 1 (Photo Essay)

I spent several hours at Callaway Gardens yesterday because there was a geocaching event being held there. This is only the second time I have visited the gardens. The last time was October 2007.

Admission to Callaway is free for January and February. So it's a great time to go. Plus, if you're into photography, there are no crowds. It makes for some wonderful photo taking when there is hardly anyone else around. Not to mention that it feels like your own private oasis.

Eventhough there isn't anything in season until late February, there is still lots to see.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I shot over 400 photos yesterday and am very pleased with how many of them turned out. Hope you enjoyed walking through the garden with me. Stay tuned for Part 2 coming later today.

These are all beautiful photos. I particularly like the third one and the second to last one. Something about the way the water is flowing that makes it so peaceful.

Lovely photos! It makes me crave spring. Were these taken in the butterflyhouse? There are so many amazing plants there for the butterflies.

Yes Kat, I decided to break the two parts between the butterfly house and the Sibley greenhouse area. I'll probably do a geocache essay on the cache located at the Chapel.

Look at you with an icon Dale, lol. I use a Sony Cybershot DSC H3. This is the problem I have every year for the calendar. I like to shoot portrait rather than landscape. Those calendar shots have to be landscape. I did take a few yesterday, but most are not the landscape format (as you can see).

I visited Calloway Gardens back in 64 when I was five years old! I remember it being very pretty there but nothing like this.

You really ought to do a coffee table book or CD of images that everyone could buy and enjoy. You'd have to work something out with the whoever owns what you shoot, but it might be worth it.
