Gooseneck Cove in January

It's been chilly lately - overnight lows in the tweties and daytime highs only in the low thirties. So I wasn't surprised to come down Hazard Rd. today to find the entire upper Gooseneck Cove frozen over. No ducks in sight, either. If I'd had some cracked corn with me they would have appeared out of the sky. but my hands were empty except for my camera.

So here is Gooseneck Cove on a Saturday afternoon in January - cold, desolate, iced over, and deserted.

Aniko, they go out to the ocean and the salt water bays and coves because salt water doesn't freeze as easily.
Last night's snow must look nice. You heading out? (I'm hibernating - Boston isn't nearly so enchanting in winter.)

Charles, our snow turned to rain in the overnight and now we have about an inch and a half of white slush with an ice crust. Not the most scenic Winter blanket!
Looks like ours stayed snowy at the end. It looks pretty, but it fell on top of a lot of ice so it's treacherous. I'm waiting for spring before I set foot outside. If you want to take pictures, though, come up here. I'll give you lunch. Even a guest room to stay overnight.

White slush is better than brown slush. (Budapest in winter tends to be brown slush by day and skating rink by night and early morning.)

Charles, thanks, but there's still plenty for me to photograph here, as you might be able to tell from the photo essay I turned in today. and that despite the crusty slush!
Great shots! Everything looks so desolate.

We're covered in white, but I still haven't had time to take any pictures. I'm not worried, though. I'm sure the season isn't done dumping on us.

Looks like a peaceful, lovely area. At least, there isn't 4 ft of snow on the ground!

Gorgeous photo essay...that third shot is stunning!! I love the "desolate" look in winter, even down here in the south with no snow, the bald cypresses are spectacular in the winter.
