Temptation
This idea of mine,
At least, this desire
That has grown somehow
And now requires me,
As if in a dream,
Obediently,
To take my axe
And chop wood
For the fire..........
This idea,
This grim sequence of events
That finds me weeping,
Sharpening my knife,
Preparing to dissemble,
Hiding grief,
Impelled by circumstance
And strange intents............
Am I possessed?
And yet I know I must........
My right hand moves.
Somehow I walk, I talk.
The words I say are dreamlike,
Yet awake I hear my voice.
An impetus, like reckless lust
Is moving me.
I am resolved to act.
The moment comes -
Another voice!
A ram with cloven hoof
Cries out,
Dissolves the dream -
At once I see the nature of the pact
By which my fate is sealed,
At once I know
A strength of will
That is not mine alone,
And how love brings to life
A heart of stone.
We eat and watch the moths
Embrace the fire's glow.

I just wanted to stop by since I am finally going through what is now listed as under 5,100 pieces of gather new mail that is sitting in my inbox on here.
With that mentioned I just came across either a mailing from you yourself, or someone else brought this piece to my attention. You or they felt that your creation should be shared with the gather community, which I am very glad that it was passed on to me to view. So I wanted to say Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to publish it here on gather for us to all view. :o)
As well before I leave you I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year... in 2009 :o)
Nothing more can be said.
But still it's difficult to imagine what Abraham went through.
There is ALWAYS a ram in the bush. That is what I get from this more than anything else.
Well done.
You are precious with your words, thank you
on offering them duly honoring me-mine !!
You amaze me with your intensity in this poetic stance !!!
