On December 12th we docked in Tortola, another beautiful island. We booked an excursion to go snorkeling here, so we had to get up earlier than normal and eat breakfast and meet our group for the bus ride. We had never been to Tortola before so we were looking forward to the day.
Here are some photos taken as we pulled into port:

Tortola was once known as a hideaway for pirates and freebooters, today the British Virgin Islands are a lure for sun worshipers and yacht men alike. The constant trade winds along the Sir Francis Drake Channel make for ideal sailing conditions and the secluded beaches and incredible vistas make the islands of British Virgin Islands a wonderful place to visit. The people are very friendly here also. Tortola is the largest island in the B.V.I, covering 36 square miles. The island is approximately 12 miles long and 3 miles wide. Approximately 25,000 people live in the BVI's 21,000 live in Tortola. Road Town, the island's capital. The beautiful mountains have fabulous views. Tortola is the land of turtle doves and is located 60 miles east of Puerto Rico and 22 miles east of St. Thomas.
Some scenery photos taken from the ship....

I hope you'll take the time to view the photos as a slide show since I didn't put them all in this article.
Next stop will be scenes I took when we went snorkeling in Tortola. I didn't take an underwater camera so I just took scenes of the area we snorkeled in.

Thanks for sharing them with us.
Thanks for the trip
Thanks for another beautiful essay. Nana.
Yes Marianne, it must be wonderful and the ride to the beach isn't very far since it's a small island. The house are very expensive though, we really didn't see much poverty at all in Tortola.
Just beautiful, Nana.
Great photos!
love and hugs...
