Earlier tonight (last night?) I posted an article about wanting to maybe repaint my dining room. I think I've settled on the shade of green I want for the job. Now, I need to settle on some paint for the shelves that are built into the wall.
I used Paintshop Pro to digitize the colors of the room and the back of the shelves. The color would only be used for the shelves, and -maybe- the doors in the room (there are 2 interior doors, 1 exterior door with a window, and 1 exterior door without a window, so putting it on the doors would make the color MUCH more prominent in the room).
I plan to use either a pale cream or off white color for the trim work in the room. I'm not a big fan of colored trim work in most instances. White or wood, and since it's already a shade of white, I can't go back to wood. ;)
Ok, so here's the picture undoctored.

Here it is with a kind of chocolate/warm brown for the shelves, and medium sage green on the walls.

And lastly, here it is with dark sage green for the shelves (not forest!), and medium sage green on the shelves.

I tried it with a light green and it didn't look very good. I also tried it with a buttercup yellow, and again, it didn't work. I couldn't get a good shade of gold to come out in the program, so I didn't try that.
The colors I'm going for in the room overall are sage greens, creams, browns, with touches of gold (not metallic gold), yellow, and maybe rust. With the greens, though, the rust colors will only be accents, not paint, to avoid a pumpkiny kind of theme. Ideally, I'd like it to be in colors that I could accent in the fall and make it look fall with darker colored curtains, but would be able to swap out brighter, sunnier colors for Spring & Summer. Like the golds & rusts in the fall with browns, and the creams, and yellows in the summer.
Which one do you like?

Are you friends with Esther? She is an interior designer....she might have some good ideas for you~
I might try a softer green and then a darker green in the bookshelves...I would have to see how it works though to be sure.
I'm getting ready to give my living room a makeover. I am going with a dark burgandy on one wall and light beige on the other walls. I'm getting excited about getting started on this project.
