Read this and please tell me what YOU think. This is a true story.
September 22nd, a boy is eating lunch at a school with his friends. Another boy, let's call him Bob, comes up to this boy and stabs a stick pretzel (an edible pretzel in the shape of a stick) into his ear. The boy had NO idea he was right next to him, nor was he fooling around with him.
The injured boy finds out that Bob had stabbed him with enough force to poke a large hole on his eardrum. The doctor tells him that 30% of his eardrum is gone and he will need to do a surgery. He misses school for almost a month because of his surgeries and recoveries, hurting his grades (from straight A's to C's and D's).
The boy's mother requests the principal to plan a meeting for her and Bob's parents since Bob's parents don't pick up their phone. The principal refuses and says it was a mere "accident" and considers it "case closed" And Bob is never suspended, expelled, taken away privileges, but talked to.
Bob's parents will not pay for the boy's surgery and medical bills (adding up to a grand total of about $20,000) and refuses to talk or apologize to the boy's parents.
What do you think? Do you think it was a wise choice for the principal to do that? What would've been the right scenario here? Please comment on this and please leave what you guys think!!!

The parents, on the other hand, have a duty to their son to teach him accountability. I feel that whether or not this was an accident they should have their son offer an apology. I don't know If I would expect payment of the medical bills. One would hope the injured boy's parents have health insurance.
The parents should've been more responsible here. They should teach their child what damage a mere prank can cause to somebody. If they don't, such a situation may rise again...
I hope everything gets sorted soon enough!
