Help... Cuz i really need to know.....

How in the heck can you really make 100 points a day on gather with DIAL UP?!!! I'm a little over half way to the target card i'm needing for baby stuff (since i know what the baby will be, read my earlier article from today) and i really wanna know... HOOOOOW???!!

maybe if you comment, type longer comments, not just 4 words. it seems to get you more points.
Comment on things. Be active- avoid pictures and video clips, and articles with pictures, because those will take longer.

Chat articles don't earn you a lot of points, because it's more unique page views that really earn the points, so people commenting repeatedly on the same article won't earn more than the people who only comment once.

Someone told me that you can earn more by commenting on photos. In any case, you can go from photo to photo quicker than reading a long article and then commenting on it. Good luck with your search for points. I've never been able to earn that much except when they had a special going on.

cant get dsl here... cant get anything but satalite or dial up, i'm in a very rual area. cant even get cable!!

hm.. how long does it take to get the point itself once you did the act?
Also, the people who earn points like that in a day, are on here on and off pretty much all day. It takes time, though, too. The more friends you have here, the better, so request LOTS of friends, because the more people who see what you post, the better. But also, comment on what they post, because you'll be more 'noticeable' to them.

It takes at least an hour to process, and points are updated at 5 after the hour, every hour.

Also- don't think of actions as being worth a point. Think of it as being worth fractions of a point. A comment does not equal a point- giving or receiving. Posting photos does not earn you a full point, etc, etc. The only time we know how many points things are worth specifically is during specialized promotions, in which case, the site will say something like, "Pictures are worth 10 points each!", such as during the summer promo.

It is hard to say, as I have never tried this service with dial-up. One thing I have noticed, however, is doing lots of views and ratings in a day usually makes my points go up a good amount - you don't even have to comment on everything you view, but from my own personal experience, just simply viewing (and when possible, rating - I leave 10's for everyone!) has gotten me about the same number of points per day as commenting and posting. Viewing also takes less time obviously, so I might give that a try... not as a substitute for posting and commenting of course, but in addition to everything else you've been doing. I might also try building up a network (friends list) so that your content has direct exposure to more people - that way you will potentially get more hits and comments, which also leads to more points.

It takes a lot of comments and a lot of friends to comment on your stuff. Sometimes they seem to add up faster than others. Right now they seem slow to me.
go to the videos page and click through each one.......

20/page...5 minutes===10 points........

I used to be on dial up, and I was able to earn a lot of points from doing tons of commenting. I also posted pics and tried to write one to two articles a day.

i have noticed that when i rate AND comment on everything i read, my points go up faster... not sure what else to tell ya! i'm close to a gift card, too... guess we just gotta muddle through not really knowing...
request a lot of friends! then comment like crazy. It is easy if you pick a person & just go through a bunch of their photo's because you can click the next button & it goes so much faster.

Have you checked recently about DSL? For the longest time, nothing was available in this area except for dial-up and satellite; they did, however, finally start offering DSL out in this little spot of the middle-of-nowhere within the past six or seven months.

The way to increase your points is to be active, grow your friends network and post things that get a large number of views.

I understand. When I started here, I had DSL, but my computer with Windows 98 performed worse than if I'd had dial-up. I could never watch a video. Now with a different computer, the DSL is much faster.

The key is to do everything. Post everything, view everything, have lots of friends, comment so they know you were there. Join groups where the specific point is for everyone to comment on as much of each other's work as possible. And do try to post something - at least once in a while - that will get tons of page views. I had two posts like that last week. One got over 400 views, the other over 200. It made a huge difference.

That was a great question and good information to know. I have cable internet, but my computer is slow sometimes. I don't think I ever got 100 points in a day.

I haven't got 100 a day yet I am trying to work my way there though. Dial up is no fun. remember when that's all we had we though it was pretty cool then didn't we :) Good luck

I'm glad I ran across this and read all of the helpful comments posted here for you. I'm in the same boat as you - need more points and it's hard to earn them. I'm also expecting a new baby, so all of my points will eventually be used on baby stuff. Good luck to you!

Sounds like everyone above pretty well has it covered. I get on Gather when I'm doing things like paying bills. I can get lot done while I'm waiting for screens to change.
