Has it been a quiet week in your hometown? Has it been a chilly one? The outside temps have nothing on the reception Critical Miami got for the Best Anti-PHC rant of 2008. The team might be too busy to notice the hubub while they're reportedly on the ice (or avoiding it) this week:

This week on A Prairie Home Companion, the staff is on its annual ice fishing retreat to the mighty Lake of the Woods, and so we're revisiting two shows that we did last January from The Fitzgerald Theater. Roy Blount Jr. and Chuck Mead of BR-549 will give a talk on the philosophy of honky-tonk music, and Dusty and Lefty make an appearance at St. Paul's Winter Carnival. Plus, Nellie McKay's debut performance, Becky Schlegel, Suzy Bogguss and an episode of The Lives of English Majors.
A good wintry mix and a bit inspirational as well. Time to get outside! I found that embracing winter by going ice skating with a handful of good-natured coworkers only meant two falls and minimal bruising (we'll leave the location of the pain out of this...) so who knows if the next step - ice fishing - is in my future. Is it in yours? Speak up on this or any old topic right here in the comments. I'm listening, and probably typing my reply in fingerless winter gloves.

Just received an update from Miss Beverly who sends out concert information on my favorite band. BeauSoleil (link provided in last sentence) will appear on APHC on Michael Doucet's birthday: Valentine's Day!
Yes, Miss J, I'm smiling.
Melinda if I had a dime for everytime someone said that... We'll stay warm. Maybe someday you'll get to live somewhere really toasty. Heck 70 & sunny sounds nice.
We went ice skating again today! Great break in the middle of the day.
I'll still take 20 below over 100 above any day of the week though! 20 below is just painful but 100 above is miserable!
