Late in the afternoon, I could tell that last night's sunset here in the "wild hinterlands" of Cloverdale in Northern California was shaping up to be unusual... I really liked the way it was backlighting the oak trees so I took a few photos early on:

The "starlight" effect of those last rays was pretty cool, too:

As it got later and the sun got lower, a small, tight group of clouds on the western horizon began to take on the orange and red hues of the dying sunlight:

They got redder and more concentrated as the moments passed...

And, after a little while, it started to look as though there was a large fire burning down below and behind the western hills:

That's when I looked up and noticed that there were two distinctly different colors of clouds in the northern sky -- white ones and very, very red ones -- seemingly side by side!

It was really odd looking...

Pretty, though... :o)

Hey, scoot over to my page and view my last photo posted, of a jet in front of the moon. I am darned proud of that shot. Got one just before it reached the spot in this photo, of the jet itself that turned out great, but I'm not posting that one. This one is the shot with the drama.

Tie a knot and hang on, Sue, my friend! Just keep saying to yourself "The days are getting longer... The days are getting longer... The days are getting longer..." lol!
