What's Up with all the Advertising Articles on Gather Today?

LOL. I haven't noticed any more than usual. Maybe I need more coffee?

Well, I see that more people are posting now this morning so most of the bunch seem to be on pages 3 and up in the recent section.

I noticed that a new member, Nikon Coolpix, who just signed up today already has a "review" for Nikon Coolpix posted. LOL

With luck, Gather will begin banning these. I've noticed quite a few. Facebook and MySpace has already banned these.

Yes, many new accounts were created last night and each account published at least one piece of content dealing with a specific product. This perhaps added over 100 new posts to the "Recent Posts" listing. It is spam, but still spam which fits within the site's publishing guidelines. Hopefully Gather removes them anyway.

I've seen them, too. LOTS of them.....and they're usually posted about 3 or 4 in a row. Everything from electronic toys to real estate. I just ignore them.

This "articles" drive me insane!!! Seriously, I want actual content that I can read. Do they not think that if their member name is the name of the product they are hawking, then they wouldn't love their product! I refuse to pay them any mind. On days like today, I will probably just read the articles that are posted by my friends that show up in my homepage instead of checking the recent section. :::sigh::: The recent section makes the day go by faster! I think if no one clicks on their links then they eventually get the hint and leave. I love it when I accidentally stumble upon one of these and leave a comment that may or may not coincide with how much they LOVE their product, then it gets deleted! I remember one in particular a while back, being for some athletic shoes, which I hate and are extremely overpriced. I stated this and after a couple minutes, the "member" took down my comment! Boo! I hate spam!

There have been a lot of these and some sneaky ads and pics too. There are too many vendors (some are in disguise) and Gather needs to boot them.

Nice to see Gather has noticed and they work on this every day.

They've been taken care of for now. For the most part they're spammers that do their spamming over night while we're asleep. As such, part of every morning here at gather is spent removing content such as this.
