My daughter turned five on December 26th. This year she asked me to have friends come to her party. We had previously had family, but my baby girl is growing up. We sent the invitations, bought decorations, ordered the birthday cake, and made up some party bags to send home with her friends. I stocked up on a bottle of ibuprofin, then all we could do was wait for the big day.
This past Saturday at 11:00 all sorts of little people started arriving at our house. They were squealing and running and laughing and I was thinking, "who's bright idea was it to do this. Oh, it was mine."

The first arrival on the scene was Maddie's good buddy Noah. At the door she handed out party hats and party beads to the kids as they arrived. She made sure to pick out orange ones for Noah, because, "That is his favorite color, Mom."

While all the kids were arriving, I snapped a photo of them in their party hats. My son, Aidan, in the front, refused to wear a hat. The birthday girl is the one in the green hat. Her Daddy was wearing a green hat and beads and she wanted the same as him.

The decorations were all set up and ready to go. We even purchased a Tinkerbell cake for the special occasion.

You might think I was being artistic with this photo and getting a close-up but that is not the case. As I was slipping the cake in the fridge the night before, it bumped on something and the cake went flying. The very front of the cake was demolished and I had to get creative and stick some flowers and icing back on before the big day.

We had a birthday party songs CD so the kids could dance, some of them played MOON SAND (that was a whole nightmare in itself), and we opened birthday gifts.

Here she is opening a princess tea set from the little girl that is smiling on her head.

Another birthday present to open.

It's the brand new TINKERBELL movie! Yahoo.

A five dollar bill and a jewelry making kit, and some make-up from another friend.

Here is little Ms. with her birthday cake getting ready to make a big wish.

Hope you wished for something good sweetie.
All in all it the birthday party was a huge success. The ibuprofin kept my headaches to a minimum. The kids had fun. We even took a huge neon pink poster board and had all the kids to sign their names and draw pictures on it. It is still hanging on the side of the fridge.
Thank you for stopping in to check out Maddie's special day.

Happy Birthday maddie!
Nice job.
Happy Birthday
Maddie
Good job, she looks so happy. Love the Tinkerbelle cake and paraphenelia.
Glad everything went so well for you. The kids look happy and that's what counts.
Thanks for sharing her day with us.
The cake looks yummy!
Wait until they hit the teen years. Those are challenging parties, especially if you have to play "Keep up with the Joneses" to keep the kids happy.
I remember one memorable 13th birthday party when I drove the get-away van for a 2am toilet papering spree, all over town.
Marianne R---We ended up dancing to a birthday music CD. It had the hokey pokey and some other fun ones. They all sat around and colored a big poster board for Maddie with their names and pictures on it. They played with alot of toys in her room and just entertained themselves. We also opened presents, had pizza delivered, and sang Happy Birthday and had cake.
She was so cute back then, too...
Blessings always...
