Like I said I had something else on my mind this week besides presidential/elected official bashing. Let me start this out by saying that I mean no disrespect for anyone involved in the tragic incident that has prompted me to ask this question, it just happened to be the incident that made me think about this particular question.
Many, if not all, of you have heard of the recent events surrounding the death of John Travolta's son Jett. He was found in the bathroom by a caregiver lying on the floor, apparently having died from a seizure of some sort. This is a sad bit of news for his family who deserve great sympathy in this matter, as John Travolta has said something regarding the expectation of a son burying his father and not the other way around, which I agree with and know how hard it can be on a parent to bury a child (not from my own perspective but that of my grandparents when my mother died 16 years ago).
Anyway, to get to the gist of the question it is simply this: What makes this story newsworthy? If my son were to die tomorrow I would not expect to hear a lick about it in the news, but I'm not famous. Of course, neither was John Travolta's son. The point of the question is, what makes the fact that his father was famous turn this into international news?
Interesting question for me, what do you think?
