"Be fruitful and multiply". Something touted as one of Gods commandments. Many religions point to this phrase, in the Bible, as a basis for their idea that people should marry, in order to have sex. Not even a relationship, long standing is good enough for them, since the couple didn't go and pay money for a licsense, and pay another to officiate, (means, make it official by recognition). Funny how they need to pay strangers for a license, and money to a stranger, to recognize their union, "officially".
Anyway, the teaching is that unless these strangers "officiate", ones union, it is not recognized by God, and is seen as an unclean union.
Many of the religions will point to later scripture, in the new testament, attributed to the Apostles of Jesus, which really does nothing more than give heed to customs, and rules layed out by man. But these are what the Bible refers to, disparagingly as," the traditions of man", being taught, as though they were the laws of God. But, being that all rulership of the earth is ordained by God, than we're supposed to follow their rules. (Romans 13).
Good advice. Don't make waves. Don't stick your neck out. Fly under the radar, and so forth. But, To say that Gods law, "Be fruitful and multiply meant that people needed to come up with all these cockamamie rituals, and rules built all around the relationship is ridiculous.
When God commanded, "Be fruitful and multiply", that was when God was in the process of creating. God was MAKING THINGS. That command/law was when the process of MATING was put into place. Instinct. Everybody has it, and every body does it. No matter what mans laws attempt to govern. No matter the custum, no matter the tradition. No matter the taboo, or threat, or price. Gods law prevails. People breed.
I figured this out by watching the other animals, and reading the Bible. Well before man walked the earth, God put that law in place. Gen. 1: 20-22.
God put it into every living breeding species. Multiply, and make more of your kind. The reason it can be seen as a law of God, is that nothing can go against it. Nothing can stop it.
I have nothing against the idea of "getting married", but it certainly is not the end all, because frankly, hormones rule, because that's the law of God.

In Montana a wedding ceremony can be performed by anyone, preacher, mayor, friend, Anyone. All you need is a liscense. In fact you don't even need a liscense or a ceremony. All you have to do is tell everyone you know that you are married. It is a legal common law marriage.
"Be Fruitful and Multiply" What am I a frigging fruit tree? Who is going to support all those kids? As to Multiply, I not only multiply I do division, algebra, trig., calculas, add and subtract.
But, as it is with all of God's, and creatures, there is the courting and the consumation.

My mother and father loved people-all people and we were taught to respect others who were worth respecting. We lived by the ten commandments-a more modernized version-howerver those were the essence of our behavior.
If I were younger I'd like to find a way to create a viable independent party, one which would respect the rights of the individual. I am not a bigot but I cannot countenance the corruption that exists in our political system. I long for a leader who is common sense-maybe a homemaker who has had to balance her budget, provide for her family, and understands the words "responsibility."
From top to bottom of government common ense does not prevail. Time to get back to reality, but is it too late? I wonder.
I am now 79, with a failing memory, and the need to do more than sit at a computer. I worry about what will happen to my children and grandchildren-what the world will be like for them if indeed the world still remains standing.
