My baby, Mikaela, is 8 months old already .. soon to be 9 months actually. Well, about 2 weeks ago, she learned how to pull herself up in her crib and now it is all she wants to do. No matter where we are, she is pulling herself up on something! It's not going to be long now until she starts walking, she's already trying to stand up by herself. Tonight I was sitting on our living room floor about a foot or so away from the couch and she pulled herself up on me and then moved over to the couch and then back to me. I thought it was so funny! I can't believe how much she is learning already.
She was really sick about a week ago and I was so scared. We were over at my friends house because I was going to go out with her for a little that night (before I found out Mikaela was sick) and her husband and Mikaela's dad were going to watch the kids. Well, about 45 minutes before we were supposed to go out, Mikaela projectile vomited all over me 5 times, right after she ate. I called the doctor because I was worried because she didn't really eat at all that day, so I knew there was a possibility of her being dehydrated. They made me take her to the ER, where we found out she had a stomach virus, but was thankfully not dehydrated. We were in and out within 45 minutes! That was the quickest trip to the ER I have ever been on. She's finally over the bug now, but it took about 5 days to work out of her system.
In other happenings .. my grandpa has started seeing this woman. I don't know if you would call it dating, but they have been friends for years, and her husband died about 5 days after my grandma did back in June. I haven't met her yet, but I am going to Friday, so I'm interested. She won't call our house because she's scared to talk to me, due to the fact that I was so close to my Nan, but I understand that my grandpa needs companionship, and I'm really not that mean!
Also, my daughter's father is home, which I believe I mentioned previously. He is staying with me and Mikaela at my grandpa's for now. However, he bought a house about 15 minutes away from here, and he wants Mikaela and I to move in. I'm apprehensive about doing it though. I do not like the area that the house is in, it's on a dead end and next to a highway bridge. But it is a cute house and a good starter home. I also don't know if I'm ready to leave my grandpa yet (who says Ryan can stay here as long as he wants) because he asked me to stay at least until I graduate (in May) but Ryan isn't willing to wait until May .. so I don't know what to do.
Which brings me to the last thing .. I graduate from Penn State on May 16, 2009!!! I am so excited!!!!!!!

Heidi -- Kids definitely do grow fast. I can't believe that in about 3 months my daughter will be 1.
Claudia -- thanks for the advice. I wasn't really planning on leaving anyway, I just don't feel that I can yet.
I think when you've had a little time to think about your options, you'll feel sure about the best choice for your future. Give yourself enough time to be sure.
It's great that your grandpa and the widow are sharing mutual grief and comfort. It's a healing thing for people at any age. People who were happily married want that happiness to continue or begin again. For now, they're probably helping each other a lot.
Best of luck with graduation and your future, Whitney!
