Whatever anyone is saying is a lie. A bunch of us got on and found out a little more. This is to help the retailers boost the sales at their stores.
You will be able to still by children's clothing at yard sales, thrift stores, and on freecycle. I personally know several thrift store operators that media is filling our head with bull crap to make money for them.

Fire!
And many places haven't even heard about it at all.
The LA Times did an article on the legislation: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-thrift2-2009jan02,0,2083247.story
As did FOX News:
http://www.foxnews.com/video-search/m/21724983/lead_in_children_s_clothes.htm?pageid=22976
As did St. Louis Post Dispatch:
http://www.stltoday.com/blogzone/parents-talk-back/parents-talk-back/2009/01/new-lead-testing-regulation-may-shutter-childrens-resale-stores/
And the list goes on....
The new law for mandatory testing goes into effect next month.
LA TIMES
It seems there are more items stating that this indeed is a law that will take effect on Feb 10. I would find it hard that many of these articles or news stories coming out would not have checked into the validity of it. Just the thought of this is a dam shame. I feel for so many parents that are already struggling. I can understand the underlying reasons for it, but what I cannot understand is why new clothes would be exempt. Are new clothes being tested? Or are new clothes (or other items) free of the very same so call lead, that used articles may contain? If not where does this even make sense?
