EBooks What is your oppinion?

There is now so many electronic gadgets on the market and the latest is the

e book, with the ability to store hundereds of books,

so we will no longer have bulging shelf units.

What do you think of the idea?

For or against?

Even if I did invest in one, I would still keep my paper,

as I would miss manually turning the pages,

and paper is natural.

I have a hard time reading on line, so ebooks seem difficult to me - and like you, I like turning pages. However ... I am thinking I may like to PUBLISH an e book, because there are those who do EVERYTHING on line!

I'm on the computer too much as it is, so I find curling up with a paper book to be more relaxing and comfortable than staring at yet another screen. Sure, I wouldn't have bulging bookshelves, but that's part of the fun of books. I have friends who regularly "shop" in my bookshelves, and I love talking to them abou the books they've borrowed and read. I treasure my books and I don't see myself being able to warm up to an electronic gadget in quite the same way.

I wrote an ebook, it was easy to do
Just upload it on my PC, that isn't so new.
Do I read ebooks, on my PC
Or hand held device, like my MP3?
You bet I do, not just for the price
But for saving trees, that's my advice.

After the e-reader can be taken to the beach, read in the bathtub, and dropped by toddlers, and lost (so it's really cheap), it will take over.

For those who aren't familar with Kindle, you can go to
Kindle: Amazon's Wireless Reading Device
and get an idea of what they are about. They are costly but so fantastic to have.

Mary you seem to be well informed on the latest gadgets, and the e book may
be a good alternative for those who don't want to be carrying a load,
so useful on holiday etc.

I have friends who have said e-books are so convenient and easy and fun, but frankly I can't see myself switching from an elegant hardcover or paperback or trade paper book to an electronic device. There's something comforting about a book in one's hand, I hope we never lose them completely.
