I've told you guys about the guy down the hall who has so many cats because he hadn't gotten the papa and mama cats fixed. This is the same place I got my kittens, Mercy and Grace. Well, the mama cat died tonight. She had another litter of three last night and only one is still alive but hanging on by a thread. The man is trying to give him makeshift milk by a dropper. I feel for him because he was crying from watching her die and he was going to wrap her up and take her on a bus to an emergency vet. It's almost better that she died here so he didn't get halfway to the vet and have her die.
I'm sorry she died but maybe it will jolt enough reality into him to see about getting the other animals fixed or given away before they start multiplying. He's already got something like 15 cats in there. The original owners of the oldest three (including the Mama) are supposed to take them next Friday. I haven't called them yet to let them know the Mama died. I'll have to do that tomorrow so they are prepared when they come. Maybe they can take 3 of the males with them and that will eliminate part of the problem.
My co-worker said that as soon as she can rent a car, she'll help me get most of the others out of there to a no-kill shelter. I know he does his best to care for them but they really need to be fixed. And, they need homes. He's just not financially able to really care for them. I'm only talking about food and litter. When I was over there, there was hardly any food out and I saw one of the cats go over to a corner to use the bathroom. It's just not healthy for him or the cats.
Anyway, keep him and the cats in your prayers. It's really not a good situation.
