A few weeks ago I wrote a little piece about new CBS reality show “Game Show In My Head” hosted by Fear Factor veteran Joe Rogan and produced by Ashton Kutcher. Different from any other reality show that CBS has ever aired, Game Show send one contestant per episode out to the streets to perform secret tasks. Billed as being a show where people punk themselves, Joe Rogan directs the mayhem back in a studio while an audience watches the fun unfold live. We get to see the aftermath as contestants try and complete the tasks for cash. Nobody out on the street knows its all an act and that’s where the fun stems from. The contestants must get everyday people walking on the street to help them earn their money and most of the time it goes completely wrong.
The first contestant for the show is a personal trainer named Shalisse Pekarcik and she’s going for the $50,000 grand prize. Her first task is to find a family and have the mother take family pictures with her in place of the wife/mother. The tasks wasn’t that hard but the catch was: she had to get a photo of the husband kissing her in the final shot. Luckily Shalisse found a willing family and quickly took pictures hugging, frolicking and making funny faces. The last one actually was pulled off, the big kiss giving Shalisse her first $5,000. Although that seemed easy it was time for the next task. We were introduced to her family before it went down and they seemed happy for her. Part two had Shalisse trying to get someone to put a cucumber, covered with ranch dressing on their face. If that wasn’t odd they then had to eat the cucumber that was used on their face in hopes of being a “beauty secret”.
After having someone run away quickly Shalisse was able to find one women who was really into it. The lady actually ate the cucumber, well a little bite at least, giving Shalisse $10,000 rather quickly. For task three Shalisse had to stand at a crosswalk and predict who would be first across the street. Her first few guesses were wrong and she only had five to choose. On try three she asked one man to run with her across the street, giving her another $5,000 and putting her up for another task. That was actually a great task and something I didn’t expect the show to do. Task four once again focused on embarrassing Shalisse in front of a couple. She had to ask a man for his number in front of his girlfriend and actually get him to think he remembered her. Although Shalisse got one man to tell her his number he didn’t say he remembered her, meaning she lost the $5,000 but still moved on to another task.
Task five was on and it meant creating a line, well ten people to stand in a line to go up set of stairs. They simply had to stand there for three minutes but why stand in line for a set of stairs? She actually wa able to get people stand in line for a good amount of time, sadly they all disbanded early putting her at $15,000 before trying to double her money to $30,000. The way Shalisse had to double her money was pretty drastic: get a guy to marry her since her “husband left the alter”. He had to put on a tux, make vows, say he loves her, say “I do” and they must kiss. Luckily it wasn’t legal so the task was on. After one failed no she went towards two surfer dudes. Shalisse actually grabbed the one guys arm and pulled him to where the tux was. It looked pretty promising as the guy said his vows and said he loved her! That’s crazy she could pull that off and luckily he said “I do”! They had a very non-prank kiss and pulled off the fake marriage. That gave Shalisse $30,000 and one heck of a first show for Game Show In My Head.
With Shalisse winning $30,000 it was Craig Scime’s turn to try and win some cash by pranking himself and the general public. The first task was to get a guy to go on a “bro-date” and get a guys number. The task was pretty impossible and he couldn’t pull it off, hopefully the rest aren’t that hard! His wife wasn’t too freaked out that he was picking up dude for the show as apparently he’s a big crazy. Sure doesn’t show on the show…. yet. The task for part two was to get someone to say into a camera that they were abducted and probed by aliens. He was close to getting someone but they walked during the probe part. Craig was able to get one guy to “admit” to being probed and abducted but could he get another? Sure could! One women was pretty good as she played along, giving Craig his first $5,000 and a new task awaited.
Once again Craig was faced with a hard task, this time including money. He had to ask someone for $5 for a magic trick, put it in his pocket and say it disappeared. He couldn’t really pull off a trick well so ended up giving back the money to all who gave him the money. Luckily his last participant let him keep the $5 for “magic school” and put $10,000 into his pocket. With two tasks left Craig had to be both annoying and funny. He had to get someone to take off their socks and shoes for “security reasons” but couldn’t mention that it would be for security. He took on the idea that he was checking for stress and then changed it up to ghosts. One lady finally took the bait but kind of knew it was a joke. She laughed the entire time and allowed him to gain another $5,000 in a rather humorous way.
For his last task before the attempt to double Craig had to get a group of people to help him throw a funeral for a dead pet. A group finally formed and Craig moved onto the eulogy, the last part was the group hug. Everyone moved in close and actually gave the hug. The last part was finding help to sprinkle the ashes and in the last few seconds he actually pulled if off. That gave him $20,000 but one last chance would let him double that to $40,000 if he could actually pull it off. To double his money Craig had to find someone to stand in for “missing diplomat”. He was quickly off and after a few failed attempts he found one man who bit into the prank. The guy was a bit confused, believing the country Craig came up with was actually a guy. Luckily he completed all the tasks Craig threw at him and doubled Craig’s money to $40,000.
Game Show In My Head surely started off strong with both episodes proving to be really well put together and really entertaining. Unfortunately its all up to ratings on how much of Game Show In My Head we get to see and being how picking CBS is on ratings this may be the last we see of the show. Hopefully the new Reality TV head at CBS knows what shes doing and Game Show proves to be a hit. We’ll just have to wait and see!
