No matter if you are buyer or seller, probably you will choose a real estate agent to help you with this deal. There are several ways how to choose one.
Let's say you are going to sell some Toronto condos. You may ask your friends, family or neighbours who have some experience with realtors for help. You may get some quick and easy tips. But it has some problems - experience with realtor can be insufficient (often just one deal), not so fresh and subjective (is the realtor friend of your neighbour?)
The second option is to search for one online. There is much data to be found online in the information age. Check the agent's track record of success over years, check the agent's client testimonials, check their website's quality.
After this, contact some of your chosen favourits. Interview them like they are your potential employees. Ask as many questions as you can.
What's agent's time schedule? Is he working Saturdays, Sundays, evenings?
What's his marketing strategy?
What's his price range, what market segment is his preferred?
Which done deals does he have?
Does he offer additional services bounded with real estate (mortgage arrangements, house inspection, contacts with real estate lawyers)?
Listen carefuly, evaluate and don't be afraid to refuse the agent, if you are not satisfied. It's the only way how to get the right one for your real estate deal!
