Gather is Irritating Me

I'm sure I'll get some slack for this article for someone, but here it is anyway.  I admit that a big part of the reason that I'm on Gather is because of the points.  I would never be able to justify spending this much time at a website online if I weren't earning something.  My husband and I aren't rich.  I don't work.  Therefore, I need some extra way of making a little bit of money. 

Ever since the New Year (well basically since Gather switched everyone over to points again) the points have been going REALLY slowly for me.  I've been returning comments like crazy, posting articles, and posting pictures just like normal.  I've been getting a fair amount of comments as well.  But my points are about HALF what they used to be.  That's just insane to me. 

Anyone else experiencing this?

I was on the cash program before, so it's impossible for me to tell if points are at same above or lower than before.

Hopefully things will pick up for you, though.

I have never been able to figure out how the point system works. I just contribute to Gather for the fun of it. Once in awhile I look to see if I have enough points for a gift card, but since I joined two years ago, these have been few and far between.

I am new enough to Gather that I have nothing to compare it to. I honestly have no idea how many points are needed to get anything. I don't even know where to find this information. Any advice? Good luck with getting more points, faster.

I agree. My first month seemed okay my second month as been moving so slow. I have been posting, and commenting the same so I do not know. I am glad I am not the only one.

I have always been on points and since I joined in October 2007 have not yet cashed in my points so I don't know what is normal.

I too have not yet figured out the point system. For a few days I was getting a lot of points and was quit impressing myself because I don't get that many views on my posts or comments.. I view as much as I can, and rate when I remember and comment when appropriate, but it seems i've only gotten a trickle compaired to the previouse few days. Maybe I"m just doing things wrong

Mine are slow also, but I did notice that last night when I logged off I had 601 and when I logged on this morning I had 608, so I thought maybe they were just a little behind and everything will be catching up.

I was on the cash option for almost two years and I earned about $5 a day or more...even when I didn't post. Since switching back over to points, I'm getting about 150 points daily without posting...only about $3. I'll take what they give me as my 'reward for participation'. I'll get things back on even keel so I'm getting $150 - $200 a month or more.

My points seem to be increasing normally. I've been on here a lot the past few days though. I was also never switched from the cash option. I joined Gather just after they announced everyone was going back to points.

Sarah, one thing that will help is if people like me don't get distracted and go off somewhere. Ok, today I have an excuse, I have a really bad headache because I was discussing $ with Hubby. I am primarily here for the people and the content, but I am not going to sit here and tell you I don't like the points too. That would be a lie. I will try to be more on point in the future.

It does seem slower.
Remember everyone: Points undate once an hour, at about 5-10 minutes past the hour, like 9:10, 10:10, etc.

I just thought my points weren't really moving is because we've been doing so many other things. But I have noticed how slowly my points have been adding up and that's before the new year, all the way through December.

I dunno. I've been accumulating points at my normal glacial rate. I had a couple of days in the last month or so where the point gains were completely out of proportion to my activity but otherwise nothing unusual has happened.

I just joined, so I don't have a point of refrence. However one of my friends said that she almost has enough points to get a gift card already. Since I'm not sure how many that takes, or how many you earn by posting I'm not sure if that is good or not?

i joined gather some time ago, but i haven't been very active at all here yet. yesterday and today i have been a little bit active thou, trying to find something to do with my spare time. but i was wondering how many posts that i would have to go through with to get the twenty five dollar pay pal award. wish me luck with it. lol

I was just switched from the cash option to points. I see my points going up. What I have started doing is keeping track each day. As soon as I log to gather I check my points and log it down and the day. I do this each day and can see my points climb steadily. Plus it helped that I won two chat and just recived points for those over night.

I love Gather. I have so much fun reading, commenting and contributing. I admit, I love the points, too. I check my points every once in a while so I am not sure if points are coming slow or not.

Newbie here but I wish I knew/understood how the point system worked. I don't feel it's detailed enough in the FAQ's. How many points do you get for posting, commening, joinging groups, etc? Anywhere I could find that info? TIA

I get most of my points from photos, but I haven't been posting alot...when I do, it seems like I get 1 point where before, it'd be 3-5 during the same timeframe. Part of this could be my being away for awhile, but there haven't been any big contests lately either(post for point promotion!!! photo point promotion!!!).

Member earnings are tied into site earnings. Therefore if Gather revenue is down, then yours will be too.

I've noted many members experiencing reduced point accumulation. This could be related to how well Gather is doing, or just an after-effect from the holiday.
