If you are into Native American Culture and/or film I have seen an article that is a must read

In the 1960's there was a TV commercial and print advertisements of a Native American weeping over the way the earth was being treated. I was just a child, but I remember it clearly. I did not know who this man was, but I weeped with him. When I think of it I still do weep with him.

Nick Howes wrote a book review about this man Iron Eyes Cody. What an interesting life he led! I found the review to be well written and intelligent (as I have found all of Nick's review's to be) with just enough information to help you decide whether you wish to read the book or not. So I spotlighted it in the group All About Film, Movies And Actors because I thought it was such a good review.

I went back today to see what comment's other people had made and found this views: 23 | rating: 10/10 (3 votes) | comments: 6. I have to say I am a bit disappointed. I am asking you all to please go by Nick's review and read it. I think you will learn something not only about this very interesting man, but about other things as well. The book sounds like it might be interesting to me based on Nick's review and I am going to see if I can find it through the library. The link to the review is

Ann, There was no intention of insult on my part. I tried to word the title so it would not take two feet. Hubby is also part Native American, he is part Cherokee. But, he is not a reader. I hope you do stop by and read Nick's review. I have to say that from what Nick wrote I found Iron Eyes Cody's life fascinating. I would love to read this book!

Thank you so much for posting this! That commercial had such an impact on me and the Indian looks like my dad. I wept with him and when I got older, got really involved in environmental issues because of him. I'm on the way to read Nick's post.

I also vividly remember that commercial and it actually had an impact on how I viewed and treated my environment from then on. I vaguely remember that there was more to the man, but we moved overseas before I could follow up on him.
So thanks - I will pursue this and I already know who I will share the book with.

I just came across this recommendation. Thanks. I had to special order a used copy of this book from Amazon.com. Can't recall how I came across it, but it was an interesting read.
