After an impromtu early Saturday like day I am off to work for 1 more day, which will most likely feel like some sort of strange Monday/Friday Hybrid. Yesterday, I cleaned like a crazy woman so the apartment is presentable, and I am glad I won't have as much to do this weekend. My Apartment Building put up a sign on New years Eve, sometime AFTER I left for work stating their intentions to come in the apartments today, Jan 2 for Maintainance. I did not go home after work, but instead rode the bus to my mom's where the kids were already waiting. Later in the evening my son told me about the sign.
Fortunately, I did not have any New Year's Day celebrations planned. Apartment complexes seem to love to do that-- give you barely any notice to "stop by" right around a holiday. We got back to our own house about noon, and did pretty well over all getting things done. I do have a big box of, "I don't want to decide to do with this right now" that I will go through this weekend, but it shouldn't be too bad.
Even as I am a little annoyed at the short notice, I am grateful too. I was thinking that I wished I had the money to plan a get together to force myself to clean. It is good to have it clean and it will be easier to get a lot of writing done this weekend. I wanted to do a little yesterday, and I really didn't. Maybe I'll do something easy tonight. Or maybe not. But by Saturday I should really be back on track.
