As the ebb and flow of tides will be,
Each morn and eve you change;
New discoveries add to a collection of memories
Some, with time, slip away;
Some, I collect like shells
To make me smile another day.
For today:
Tiny hands brought together in triumph
Then pulled to travailing gums,
Lopsided grins and rebellious locks,
Coos and giggles, and hickory dock,
Leaning in for another snuggle,
Soon . . . to keep you back, a struggle . . .
. . . if I would, but I would not.
For Tomorrow:
Grow and learn and embrace this life,
But hold on when you need to, Sweet.
And know that in this vast new world
You are loved from where e'er I be
Then:
As with shell held to my ear,
Your pictures 'member yesteryear
