Need some help with Party Ideas for Saturday

I know we have made bracelets and necklaces before.

Pinatas are fun. Pin the tail on the donkey. Play some music and let them dance...musical chairs, maybe. Have some crafts for them to do.

I agree with heather,, and maybe like a pretty thing ask moms first yet deck out girls in makeup and nail polish

I'll tell you what I've done for years at most of my parties - of course, I'm a big kid. I have baskets of old hats and wigs and baskets of glasses and other disguises or sorts. These are fun to put on and in themselves will make everyone laugh. Also, you can have a couple of hoola hoops around and a big exercise ball - you can play roll the ball and try to get it over a certain place. Also, you might want to get some face paint and let them paint each others faces...hope this helps. I'll keep thinking! Salud

Also, go to your local newspaper office - some will give you rolls of newsprint. Get this and roll it out and let everyone sign their names and draw - if you can't find the newsprint - try going to the dollar store and they have these big drawing tablets - also get some clay and get everyone to make one animal each - it can be a made up animal but just one animal before the end of the party....Ok hope these help! Musical chairs is always fun a couple of times - and hopefully, it's not the same person left hanging! Also, when they walk iin the door ask them what they want to be called. Write on a name tag the name they choose - usually a made up one like Kim or something cute - Kids love to pick their own names - and then call them that during the party! Salud

I used to keep everyone engaged in my kids' bday parties by using the treat bag fillers as prizes along the way ..

the all started out with empty bags (which they usually decorated with their name) ...and then at the end of each game or activity, they got something else to put in their bags

Music and dancing! Little girls love to dance and listen to music.

I agree with Heather's suggestions. Pinatas, Pin the Tail on the Donkey and musical chairs are all good activities for children that age.

You have a lot of suggestions for games and things so I will add this. Keep each activity short!!! They have the attention span of gnats sometimes. That is what I found with my daughter and son's fifth birthdays. My luck was that both of them were born in the summer so we had outside to run and play. Winter has got to be a bugger. Do some quiet craft things and something that will release the energy.

I found if you were going to do treat bags, don't let them have t hem until they leave or you end with everything all over and kids missing stuff because it gets taken out and someone else picks it up.

My daughter loves to be a princess and luckily her grandmother bought her lots of dress up clothes and boas which kept her friends busy dressing up. Craft stores have those foam projects for quite the cheap price like at Michaels (if you have that in your area) and they have foam princess crowns you could make and I bought foam letters so they could put their names on them to and we walked around as princesses.
Whatever you decide good luck!!!!! You will make it through. Just keep taking deep breaths. If you find something is not working. Just move on to something else.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I love all of them. You have helped me more than you know. I love the craft ideas for the princess wands ect, however some of her friends at daycare are boys. So we have to do something that would be equally fun for boys/girls.

Laurie R----I would love it if her birthday was in the summer. Then I could take them to a park or anything. This one we are having at our house, and then one of the little girls is spending the night.

Mariana---I love the idea about the name tags. I also love the idea about the kids signing something. I think I am going to buy a giant poster board and all the kids can draw/write something on there and Maddie can put it on her wall in her room.

I also like the idea of dancing. We were just watching a cartoon a while ago and they would dance and then freeze. I might do that for some fun.

Plus, eating the pizza, birthday cake, and opening presents will take up alot of time too.

I don't have any kids, but my mom had all kinds of games where prizes were awarded.

You've had some great ideas here! I can't remember what my kids liked at that age. My daughter turned 8 recently and had a "makeover" party with glamour shots. That was fun.

Craft ideas or dressup/makeovers are always good.

I ended up getting a giant posterboard, that I decorated with Happy 5th Birthday Maddie. I'm gonna have all the kids write their names or pictures or whatever they want on it, with colored pencils.

I also came across a CD of music called "Birthday Girl." It's got the Happy Birthday song, Hokey Pokey, and some other dance numbers. That should be fun.

I dread the day when the kids want to invite other people to their parties. I love it just being the four of us.....

I also agree with the Pinatas we had a fire turck pinatas for my sons birthday party. You could also have the girls dress like tinkerbell in their outfits to the party. and let them maybe play tea or something. I have found out that with mine they will find things to do after the first game.

Pinatas are ALWAYS a big hit! Try to do a little craft as well!
