I'm off Gather for the rest of the day (my new chore)

I used to say, "Next year my novel about Merlin comes out".

 

This is the first day I get to say, "This year my Merlin novel comes out".

 

I woke up and saw the galley for it in my email.  I'll spend the next few days going through it and looking for mistakes.  So far I've noticed that all the italics haven't been wiped out in the "galley process" ... so, so far so good.  I'm sure there will be a few " going in the wrong direction at the end of a quote.  That usually happens.

 

I'm not like Tracy Fabre who can go through her galley AND chat at Gather at the same time.  I'm a boy.  I can't do two things at once.

 

Gotta go.

Happy New Year, Peter. I especially hope you don't find any bad mistakes in Merlin. I received TALES OUT OF COLLEGE to proof and found no problem with the italics either. I did find a very bad repetitive word use, however, and I am going to beg and plead for its removal.

Congratulations on your progress. I can't wait to hear the joyous news that your book is published. It's funny, this morning I awoke with an abundance of writing ideas. Quickly I grabbed my journal to capture the ideas so once I return home my fingers will fly on my laptop and I can say I have a book!

HEY. You know, Shirley is such a good editor that there was virtually nothing to find -- hence I could multitask -- except for the italics, which eventually Kris was able to restore.

But you're right... it's because you're a boy.

I'm on chapter 6.

So far there's a line that's all space that shouldn't be there. There's a missing indent when Arthur speaks. And a " going in the wrong direction at the end of a line.


That's all. Just galley formatting issues.

So far Shirley is on Chapter 3 of her own proofing and has a sore neck from shoveling snow (thankfully not off the roof). So far I haven't been very good about keeping my New Year's resolution. Here I am still wasting time on Gather, lost at Facebook Scrabble, and ate and drank to excess. So much for losing weight...... I'll try again tomorrow.
