ive never worked in a bar. I dont drink anymore either

I never have, but my sister in law does, it is hard because she works nights and weekends so she is working when my brother and the kids are home, and when she is home they are all at work or school. She does make a lot of money though.

I know how you feel, it's a tough decision, but you have to do what is best for your family right now. I hope it all works out for you!

I have never worked in a bar. It has to be a tough job though. I imagine you would have to deal with many different types of people many of which might be unpleasant. I think before I quit drinking I might have done fine with such a job but now I can't stand watching people act stupid when they consume too much alcohol.

My daughter works in a bar and I went to have dinner with her tonight before coming to work. She makes oodles and boodles of money in tips and good wages otherwise (she's the bartender and nightclub manager), BUT she's so used to having a free-flow of cash that she always spends down to her last dime, so she's always broke. She has lots of friends around town and everytime we walk down the street with her, we are stopped about 20 times by people talking with her because they feel she is their best friend. She's not married, but she has a daughter and the late hours mean she's not up most of the time the daughter is.

As for how it affects your marriage, though, there was an incident tonight that told me it can be hard on a marriage. The other bartender came in and I asked her where her husband was. She said he was off somewhere drinking. The guy next to me asked her if her husband was coming in and she said (with great energy), "I hope not!" I asked my daughter about that and she said her in order to be a successful bartender, the ladies have to flirt with the men and most men don't do well when they see their wives flirting with other guys.

I would suggest working in a bowling alley bar-I did for 4 years and I loved it! The tips were awesome and you got to know your customers because it was leagues-you didn't have a "diffrent" crowd everynight you know? Plus, around the Holidays tips were bigger and at the banquets you had a lot of fun! I was single when I did this and I worked only 3 nights and every other Sat. night and I managed to pay all my bills with no problem with a child!
