White Churches of New England

There is hardly a town or city in New England that doesn't have a classic white church.  The religous affiliations vary from Unitarian, to Baptist, to Congregational and Epsicopal, but they guard our town centers like faithful sentries. When I can, I take pictures of them because they are similar, but often have varied details and styles.  Here are some I captured this year.  Please note, I have tried to avoid ugly phone and electrical lines, but there are times when that is just not possible.

Wonderful...ugly wires and all. I don't know why, but I really love these white churches. We have a few old ones here, but my childhood church was a very small white church like this. The church my husband's parents were married in is also a little white church. It is now a home...wouldn't that be fun!

Love 'em. I do miss New England sometimes. Are the Congregationalist churches the ones of our Puritan ancestors? I should know this, I just don't recall.

Yes, Linda most of the Congregational Churches around here go back to the 7th century. We do also have a couple of Unitarian churches that go back more than 200 years.

The churches are in Topsfield, Beverly, Manchester, and Boxford, Mass. All the communitites are north of Boston.
Linda these are some really nice pictures of some of the examples of churches in the N.E. area........
