I found this interesting article about a cooking show that is centered on a 5 year old chef. Since I live in Oregon and the show is from Portland it caught my eye, but what was even more interesting was that this was really a kid my son's age doing a cooking show, and also coming up with his own recipes for things! Can you imagine where you would be today had you been a televised chef at the age of five? It boggles my mind that he has accomplished this little feat.

The part about being unschooled and having "child-directed studies" sounds shaky. Unless his parents plan to actually teach him or enroll him in school, he will never pass the state competency exams.
