Your opinion: The Best of 2008?

I'm not qualified to judge many of these, but I thought we might roll the Oscars, the Emmys and the Grammys all into one. What were your favorite movies, books, songs, albums, whatever during 2009?

As always, feel free to argue with my choices...

1. Favorite album...no it's not anything by Barry Manilow. It's actually Herbie Hancock's tribute to Joni Mitchell called River. (Although I must say that Barry does an excellent cover of the title song.) My sister bought it and I was hoaeloked. Anyone remotely interested in jazz or Joni should look for this ink  the library.

2. Favorite single...tough on my because I don't listen to much top 40. In faHct, thanks to my niece, I listen to way too much of the Jonas Brothers. I do enjoy some cuts from Michael W. Smith's worship album that gets a lot of play on Christian radio. (which I discovered by flipping stations.

3. Favorite comeback...yeah, Brittany did a turn-around, but who would have ever thought Herbie Hancock would win a grammy in 2008? Herbie gets my vote.

4. Favorite movie...Marianne R. or Donna H. can probably give a more educated opinion on this. I almost always wait for the DVD and only see a few 6in the theatre. I'm going to say "The Bucket List" simply because of I love Morgan Fremon and it made me laugh.

5. Favorite television show...I know many say it's outlasted it's time, but I still like Survivor. My favorite non-reality television show is "Law and Order Criminal Intent" but it may have been cancelled.

6. Favorite Book - again, I should defer to Christine Zibas or even Oprah on this one. I'm always late in discovering great ones, so it should be no surprise that Glass Castles was the best book I read this year. If you haven't read it, don't wait another year. It's worth it.
