Well, the answer we got at the orthopedic wasn't that great. I hate it when I'm right too. The stupid doctor at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta wasn't looking at the right place on the xrays....I knew he wasn't, but he didn't listen to me. My 9 yrs as an EMT (paramedic), plus all of Pher's broken bones, does mean I know how to read x-rays.
Okay...so, Angela has 4 broken bones in her foot....metatarsels 2-5. Her ankle is sprained also. The doc had to move her foot back in to position, which wasn't fun for Angela at all. It had been stuck in the wrong position the last 8 days, so it was not easy to move. Angela has a cast on to her knee...and it's NOT a walking cast. She's NOT allowed to put any weight on her foot for AT LEAST a month. We either have to get her a wheelchair or she will continue to use crutches. At home she does a lot of crawling on her knees...and her poor knees are getting all rug burned.
In 4 weeks, Angela will go back in for more x-rays, and a decision will be made then. She will either get a new cast or be put in to a boot for a couple more weeks. The most upsetting part to Angela is she can't dance for 8-12 weeks. That is really going to kill her. And she probably won't be able to go on ballet pointe for over a year, but we'll see.
Angela did get to choose the color of her cast....it's 2 tone....black on the bottom and pink on top....her dance studio colors.

Going back to school is going to be tough on her too. Someone will have to help her with her books and trumpet....oh boy.

I am really sorry to hear it happen to her. I hope things go easy and fast for her.
Kids heal fast, so i hope its true for her
hugs to her
I've seen kids as young as 9 on point, and they shouldn't be, because of the damage it can do to their feet. Make sure she's fully healed before attempting point shows. The weight and stress of learning to dance correctly on point is hard enough without doing on bones that suffered injury. ;)

I am so sorry. We have not had the internet for a couple days so I have no idea what is going on with Angela. Victoria is leaving early in the morning so I will get online later tomorrow and read all your posts. Please tell her I will be thinking of her. Hope she is not in too much pain.
I'm hoping she will heal quickly~
Angela I'll be praying that oyu will heal quickly !!
I am so sorry that the news wasn't better.
I really do think you guys should get a group discount at the orthopedic doc!
Good luck to her!
I think though after this, she will be a tough girl. And, can handle just about anything.
I sincerely hope someone will help her when she's in school. That's the hardest part.
Hugs, dear. I send you my best wishes.
Happy New Year Glitter Pictures
So much to do So little time Alot to do and comments too.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i can relate to it sucking too...pulled the ligaments in my right foot almost three years ago...still swollen in the ankle and was in a walking cast for awhile...plus it took three visits to the hospital (including one on the night i injured myself) and a referral from a walk-in clinic to even get xrays done...couldn't even limp the first night and the dr at emerg gave me a ziploc bag of ice and said i'd be fine in the morning...yeah right..lol
hopefully things go better with her!
I do love the cast though :)
I love the look of her cast and I hope you've removed all the scatter rugs in the house.
My New Years Wish for her is a speedy recovery!
Angela has a classy cast there for sure. I do hope she tolerates the rest of her time imprisoned in it. It probably will be a really hard thing to do. It did cross my mind how this would affect her dancing later on once the healing was done. As much as she loves to dance, I hope she doesn't have to wait too long.

Bless your child!
I do have a suggestion. You said that her knees are getting rug burns from crawling around the house. If you have any leg wrammers (or something similar) you can pull them up over the cast and over her knees to give her some soft protection when she's crawling. If you put some first-aid cream on her rug burns and then cover the knee with something like the leg warmer, it should help.
I hope everything heals the way it should.
and that she's feeling a little better anyway.
Hope it heals quickly and correctly.
