As many of you know, my job was eliminated last week due to "downsizing"(Merry Freakin' Christmas to me). Actually, it was eliminated because the new administrator wanted to hire her friend as a unit coordinator, so she cut one of the two reimbursement specialist jobs, and lucky me had the least seniority. There was not enough money in the budget for both, so cut the money making position, right?
Oh well,. its water under the bridge now. I have been sending out resumes left and right, and just this morning I got a call for an interview on Wednesday.
On another note, I noticed some swelling under my right axilla or armpit last week and am going for a Mammogram tomorrow. I'm confident it is nothing, but better safe than sorry. And its good I can get in this soon, as I lose my insurance on Thursday...Happy Flippin' New Year.
Please keep me in your prayers and wish me luck.
Thanks for reading
Donna

I so, feel for you. I sincerely hope that you get that new job. And, that your mammogram turns out free and clear.
I will pray for you. I hate to see others in pain, emotional or otherwise.
Hugs dear.
Don't worry!
I so don't understand why people in the US put up with that so called ~system~ of yours
Angela,
At least we're not alone...we have each other, if nothing else..lol
flit,
What choice do we have, barring moving up north? We just elected someone who will hopefully correct this problem. And what gets me, is I was not offered COBRA insurance, although I couldn't afford it if I was, I think it is law that it must be offered.
Rest easy
I know they HAVE to offer COBRA, but they haven't thus far. I went to the website Jane posted before I wrote this to find out the penalty for NOT offering it. I'm not sure what the cost is now, but 2 years ago, my employer/insurer wanted $660/month, and that if out of my league with no paycheck coming in.
Rosa,
I wish I could just chill for the winter, but I'm kind of fond of luxuries like electricity and food...
Dang.
Good luck on the job interview. I hope the mammogram turns out fine. My prayers are with you Donna.
No, COBRA coverage is at one's own expense. The company pays nothing, which is why I cannot afford it, even if they DID offer it.
When the non-profit I worked for for 21 years closed, they covered me for 90 days, the for-profit which closed in '07 cut us off before we even got our last paycheck, but they DID offer COBRA at $660/month...the unemployed can really afford that, and this p[lace hasn't even offered it, but I'm hoping its moot if I get the job on Weds. What I am is screwed if the mammogram shows anything.
Sending positive vibes your way!
hugs,
erica
As for the job thing; yeah, I'll be praying for that to get solved soon, too. It's already been tough enough with only one of us working for these past few years. Damn, I really need to land a book deal or writing gig.
Smooooooooches for My Sweetie
Every position I have taken since St. Rita's closed in '05, I have thought "This is a place I could retire from", but it seems God has another plan, but I sure wish he would make up his mind...lol
As for the Mammogram, I have every confidence it will be negative. I saw my primary Doc last week and he didn't think it was lymph related, but he wants to be safe, as I had a scare a few years back and had to go through a biopsy and ultrasound before it was proven negative. Luckily, I have no family history, but I worry mostly for my Bill, who lost both a sister and his mom to that horrid disease. I hope against hope I won't be putting him through this agony once again.
Once again, Bless the lot of you!
Lay offs and all are happening left and right around here. There are so many places closing and so many people are being left wondering what they are going to do. I'm sorry to hear of your predicament, but I have no doubt your interview will go well and you will find yourself back in the working world.
As for the mammogram ~ I hope you're right about it being negative. Regardless, I'm glad you're going to get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry (as you know). I'll be awaiting to hear word of how all this works out for you. Sending positive thoughts and virtual hugs your way.
God be with you every step of the way.
(Never had one.)

When I interviewed for my current job, I thought I did AWFUL. The interview was okay, but they had a "test" afterward. I thought I'd bombed... but I got the job! Hope you get yours.
As for your mammogram, I am sending positive prayers and even more luck your way. I am a BC survivor! Please keep us posted!!!!
Ace that interview.
Hoping this interview will be good for you!
Hopefully that swelling will be something minor, and not something serious.
Please pray that Larry continues his wonderful recovery and that he gets a job.
You and Larry are in my prayers as well. I'm pretty sure I will get the job I interviewed for. When I went to pick up my last paycheck, my boss told me she had given them a stellar reference, and that the ED of the new place told her she was pretty sure she was hiring me, but I haven't received any confirmation yet. Had the mammogram on Tues, and am awaiting the results, which had better be negative, because I am now uninsured as well.
God Bless you all!!!!!
