Now that this year is coming to an end I would love to hear from everyone. I want to know what was your favorite moment of 2008? Did anything amazing happen to you this year? Anything new and exciting?
I would have to say my favorite moment of 2008 was when my kids and I got the keys to our new brand home. We'd been waiting a long time to have our own home and through the love and support of Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers this moment was made possible!
Thanks again to all the awesome volunteers from Habitat for Humanity!!!! Also thanks to my friend Abe ... who volunteered non stop helping to build my home. When we began building my home I was excited, scared, nervous, and anxious. By the time the house was done being built I felt like I had found a second family. Still almost one year later the volunteers and I are still in communication. My kids and I have gone and volunteered for many of their projects over the year. I feel truly blessed having found this program ... and the people whom I have met through it.
I would have to say it was the best moment of 2008 ... to accept my keys at the dedication and blessing ceremony for my home.
What was your favorite moment of 2008?

2008 was a tough year for me too ... I lost a child in January ... lost my job ... a close friend was shot and killed ... the list goes on and on .. but the best thing to happen was me and my kids getting our home.
I thank god everyday for all the blessings in my life.
I feel like I have been blessed so I want to pay it forward so to speak!
1. Two of my sisters completed cancer surgery and therapy and have been declared "cancer free".
2. After ten years of a long, ugly, hate-filled divorce battle with his former wife, my middle brother was able to purchase his own home with no strings attached to the ex.
3. I became the great, great aunt to beautiful twin girls.
4. Barack Obama won the presidential election.
As for me, personally? I gained new friendships, strengthened friendships already in place and endured a pretty rough year with the love and support from those friends and my family.
Congratulations on your new home, Dena! Happy New Year!
Aunt Boni ... seems like if we all stop and think for a moment we will realize how truly blessed we all really are! =)
Spencer .. please do tell! LOL *wink wink* Someone's got a secret! HA =)
Sheila congrats on the neice ... babies are always such a blessing in the lives of all involved.
Oh yes .. and Obama winning the election is sweet! I am so proud that he made it that far its a big step for all of mankind. I mean really did anyone ever think we would see a black president? Or a female one? I am so happy that the US is coming so far. I think Obama is going to be great for us. I like a lot of his idea's and he is for the working man ... we need him!
1. November 4 at 8:01 p.m. Um, do I need to explain that one? Okay, I shall explain.
Obama won!!!
2. Each and ever time that my Little Ones, meaning my nieces and nephews tell me that they love me. They are not faking it; that's real. Each and every time those Young Ones, and especially the Wee Ones -- 2, 3 year olds with the little voices say it, it is as new and fresh as the first time.
3. Learning about the LOVE of my family and friends when I underwent cancer. They were more concerned than was I. It was "rubber meets the road" time, by seeing who was there, and who was not there.
4. After returning from a trip back east I opened a bunch of books and written in book after book, after book were the words "I love you." It's one thing to say it, but another to write it in books when that wasn't asked, or necessary. I was shocked.
I suppose that gestures of love are always the most memorable, and survive everything else.
I think that November 4, 2008 -- well, it just speaks volumes.
YES, WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So was leaning on a railing at the marina in Cabo San Lucas with a margarita in my hand counting "Ten, nine, eight..." on New Years eve.
