Year after year I watch ESPN and listen to all the sports pundits tell me over and over again how the Dallas Cowboys are such a great team. They tell me how the Cowboys are the team to beat. They compare Tony Romo to Brett Farve. They feature the Cowboys although there are many other teams worthy of the ass kissing they place upon them.
Well I just watched the Cowboys fail to make the NFL playoffs for the 9th or 10th year in a row. I watched as Cowboy owner Jerry Jones squirmed as his team choked once again. I watched all aspects of their team fail. In other words, I watched as the Philadelphia Eagles kicked their ass.
I watched as the Cowboys hired misfits such as Pac Man Jones. I watched as the Cowboys employed the cancerous Terrell Owens. I watched as the Cowboys imploded when the the going got tough and the tough did not get going.
As ESPN, Fox Sport, the NFL channel kissed their ass, I wondered what did they saw that I didn't see.
What they wanted was ratings. What they wanted was "change". YES WE CAN!
Well what they got was a mediocre , dysfunctional bunch of athletic misfits who will never be able to explain the definition of TEAM. It's all about me. It's all about doing what I want to do even if it's detrimental to the overall success of the TEAM.
Jessica Simpson. Where are you now? I didn't see your curly locks tonight. Is your beau now "old school"?
Once again. The Dallas Cowboys aren't America's team. Let's put an end to this myth.

I think Jerry Jones has had a lot to do with the downfall of the Cowboys. He has never been loved here in Texas. They have many stars but no team. Romo's turnovers have ruined the season, must still be thinking about Jessica rather than football.
Oh well, we just have to remember the glory days. There is always next year.
Unfortunately, the Saints have reverted back to their old ways and now appear to be the "Aints" once again.
Your "don't care" attitude may contribute to your longevity. lol
Those people take their sports seriously. Goal, goal, goal, goal, goal, goallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
You ask "Who is the REAL America's team?"
I can't answer that at this time. I like teams that overachieve and rise to the occasion when it's least expected of them.
So I would like to give the a lot of credit to the Miami Dolphins who today won their division title after going 1-15 last season.
It is a myth. The Dallas Cowboys have done nothing to deserve the title, America's Team.
Their on field and off field behavior has been atrocious.
I know your husband has gone through a difficult time over the last several years as a Dallas Cowboy fan, but there's always next year.
Just as the the Miami Dolphins went from "worst to first", there is always hope. But the Cowboys need a fundamental change in the way they approach winning football.
They need to build from within and stop trying to buy a championship by hiring players with a "me" mentality as opposed to a "TEAM" mentality.
You are right. The Dallas Cowboys used to be America's Team when they had the likes of Roger Staubach, Too Tall Jones, Tony Dorsett, Troy Aikmann, Emmitt Smith and all of the other great Cowboys.
But today they are a mere image of those glory days. They are a very unlikable organization from the owner down to the selfish players he's hired.
I can't say who is America's team at this point, but I'm very impressed with the "worst to first" division champion Miami Dolphins.
They give hope to struggling fans throughout the sports world that there is always next year and it can be better.
I really like your nomination of the Indianapolis Colts. That is one classy organization. They win and loose with dignity and have players of the highest moral fiber.
Any fan of the NFL would be proud to have them as their home team.
Can you believe that the most popular selling NFL jersey belongs to Tony Romo. What has he done to deserve such praise? Absolutely nothing.
I'm sick and tired of hearing this crap too.
I don't know why Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones keeps bringing in such dysfunctional players.
Check this out. This is from the Dallas newspaper, The Star Telegram. It appears the natives are getting restless. Just read these comments.

Your Turn: Thoughts on the Cowboys' loss to the Eagles
OK, Cowboys fans.
Let 'er rip. Give us your thoughts on the end of the season in the comments below.
do you even have to ask? jerry, wake the f--k up and hand over the reins to someone who knows what the hell he is doing. 40 g--m years of following this team and i have never felt worse about a game.

I now can say I hate the Dallas Cowboys. The money spent on this team we should have a bye this next week with a Super Bowl on it's way. I hope that Jerry understands why people are not buying season tickets for Jerry's world.
Posted by: JC | December 28, 2008 at 06:26 PM
Pathetic....I will cancel my Sunday ticket, here in NC..How about an owner change?
Posted by: Randy tingen | December 28, 2008 at 06:27 PM
Where to begin...after following the Cowboys for 40 years now I actually found myself pulling for them to lose & lose big only because maybe the GM would finally wake up & realize that when it comes to football he is a fricking idiot!!! He still thinks he was personaly responsible for the 3 Super Bowls Jimmy Johnson won (I refuse to give Switzer any credit) & he also thinks they won 13 games last year because Parcells was gone when the reality is that Paracells laid the groundwork for them to win those 13 games!

I sure hope Jerry Jones takes a long hard look at his "hand picked" Team Including his coaching staff..
Posted by: henry west | December 28, 2008 at 06:28 PM
Coach cupcake said he gave it his all as a coach. Wow, if this is his best, i dont want to see his worst. Honestly, a complete change needs to be made, from president, general manager, and coaching staff need to be changed. We (Da Boys) need a winning mentality, not a team full of egos.
Posted by: Carlos | December 28, 2008 at 06:31 PM
They would have been better off if they had all stayed home and just declared the Eagles as winners. What a miserable embarrassment before a nationally covered audience. Are you proud of your losers, Jerry?
Posted by: Doyle | December 28, 2008 at 06:32 PM
I have been a cowboy fan for ever (60) and have defended them from day one taking a lot of flack from co-workers and friends about my team. But today I can say I am treuly ashamed to be a cowboy fan. That was the most pathetic display of a a football team I have ever seen. The line couldn't block, the QB couldn't hit his butt with a bat, and the receivers could run a correct route if their life depended on it. I may come around next year but right now I have had it with this bunch of under acheivers.

I seriously believe that Romo is not taking the game seriously enough. He is supposed to be the leader of this team. I really didn't see it. Once again receivers were not in communication and I'm not certain why. Certainly mistakes were made everywhere. This was a total team loss. It does start with the quarterback which seemed to have a lack of leadership. We should have won this game. Certainly not blown out the way we were. Just my opinion.

Jerry is too ignorant to learn anything. I've been a Cowboy fan since they became a team and this ownership continues to screw up at ever turn.
I'm not sure anything will ever change when you have an arrogant owner who couldn't even go back to Arkansas and win games with them.
Posted by: Big O | December 28, 2008 at 06:37 PM
Jerry and his coach deserve this team. Please don't buy season tickets for next year so that they can feel the pain
Posted by: Ed Tschabold | December 28, 2008 at 06:37 PM
Should not be a surprise, as it has been the same mistakes over and over since last year. The mental mistakes, blown assignments, dumb interceptions, ball insecurity, special team miscues, false starts, off-sides, FB/RB in the flat, TE running free in the corner route, missed tackles, lack of desire, leadership, fire, focus.
As fans, we have seen what this team is...granted the injury bug has hit this team this year, but offensively we have sturggled with consistency since week 4 and defensively we have been up and down and we really have a lack of playmakers at the safety and cornerback position.
I believe the team reflects the laissez-faire attitude of the Head Coach. But the team needs heart.

This team has typically started soft and got away with it. Today shows why this is a poor way to manage a group of players. It's Wades fault from beginning to end because his style is way too slack.
Posted by: Joe Jonak | December 28, 2008 at 06:40 PM
I don't see how anyone in the Dallas area would be willing to shell out big bucks to watch these underachievers.
Too depressing to think about. This is one of the most disappointing seasons ever.

Round up the Lynch Mob!!...OH MY GOD that was Pathetic!!!
Posted by: TC | December 28, 2008 at 06:41 PM
As a lifelong Steeler fan, regardless of their successes it was soooo awesome watching them play (is that what you call it?)today. Tony Romo was terrible, and the rest of the team didn't show up either. Hey Cowboy fans, Tony Romo is not the second coming of Jesus Christ. Never was, never will be. I will watch with great pleasure when they don't sell out the new stadium and games will be blacked out in the DFW area (like in the early 90's?. My prediction...Jerry will fire Wade this week..Go Steelers!!
Posted by: Greg Marburger | December 28, 2008 at 06:41 PM
In the words of a good coach, "You are what you are." Look for this team to slip below .500 next year as it continues to crumble under the direction of Jerry Jones.
Posted by: Tough2BFan | December 28, 2008 at 06:43 PM
Sad Sad Sad Time for some major changes to this team starting with the coaches
Posted by: John | December 28, 2008 at 06:43 PM
This team needs to practice hard so they play hard and lacks discipline. That is the problem.... NOT JERRY. Jerry will be the problem if he doesn't rectify that part of team management that doesn't instill discipline. He may like Wade but Wade has a track record of softness. He is no Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcels, Bill Cowher, or Marty Schottenheimer attitude guy. This is the problem.
Posted by: Joe Jonak | December 28, 2008 at 06:44 PM
Jerry, please-please...fire Wade Phillips. Its time to get a younger, more inspirational like Jimmy J and Tom L were when Lombardi trohpies were being delivered to Dallas. This was simply an embarrasing loss. We didn't even compete in the game.
Posted by: Paul Taylor | December 28, 2008 at 06:46 PM
This is a classic case of shoulda, woulda, didn't want it. Troy said it best... Talented teams don't always win. The ones who want it bad enough, do.
I don't blame Romo... I don't blame T.O....... I don't even blame Wade. I do blame the offensive line for their fiercely poor job this year...and the other coaches for not bringing fire to this team. Where there is no fire, there is no smoke. I think it's safe to say, the Cowboys aren't smoking.

Obviously, the wrong decision was made when Tony Sparano was passed over twice by the GM. It seems that anyone that is capable of leading this team is jettisioned because the GM can't handle the pressure of allowing them to lead. Fan loyality in the city of Philadelphia is dangerous to a Cowboy fan, however, I can't defend that performance. A loss in this circumstance would have been tolerated, but a blowout is in-defenseable!! 40 Plus years and this was THE most embarrasing loss that I have had to endure. Wade must GO!!!! Reality says that the GM will not go, however, please show some *alls and hire a COACH!!!!!!

romo threw the ball like a damn girl..d.h. needs to get his @$$ in the weight room..also get the xxxxeating grin off his face. somebody needs to slap the blank out of him and jerry..do not attend cowboys games until a gm is in place w/ a new head coach.. quit feeding this monster
Posted by: enough | December 28, 2008 at 06:47 PM
this team Sucks, when the hell did Al Davis take over
Posted by: John | December 28, 2008 at 06:47 PM
There is absolutely no leadership in this entire organization, from to bottom. Do you think for one second Romo would have waived the punt team back under Parcells, Johnson or Landry? Did you see Wade's reaction? Joe Buck's comment of who's coaching this team was dead on. I will never be ashamed to be a Cowboys fan, but I will never be a fan of Wade Phillips and the GM/jjones.
As long as we are at it just look at the Raiders for a glimpse in our Cowboys future, that is where we are headed...
Posted by: rdr | December 28, 2008 at 06:47 PM
That is the only Dallas team I am aware of.
We here in the Philadelphia would have a hard time acknowledging our mortal foes, the New York Giant, Washington Redskins or Dallas Cowboys as America's team.
I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it. lol
By the way ... have you noticed that T.O. has not been on the winning side of any post-season game since he started trouble in San Francisco?
The Cowboys have been perennial chokers and haven't even won a playoff game in ages. It's time to focus on those teams with players and coaches of character who don't receive the recognition they deserve.
It just seems as if the sports media has a love affair with the Cowboys although they haven't done anything in quite a while.
Actually I haven't see the Redskins in quite a while. Down here in Baton Rouge, we are more into college football and are absolute fans of the LSU Tigers.
I do like the Eagles, though. I used to follow the Chicago Bears a lot. But placing the label of "America's team" on any of them is media bias, and THAT is not right.
Hope your new year is blessed, Lloyd!
