Let’s talk about waves:
Ocean waves lap the shores
Recede and take the pebbles with them
Rip down cliffs
Houses disappear
Insect waves descend across the prairie
Blocking the sun for only a short time
Gnawing on through the fields
Green is gone and the farmer sells his legacy
Rodent waves, lemmings or rats perhaps
Impose red bitten legs on the under-the-bridge dwellers
How they love our filth
Cats are gorged all of August
Light waves flood the parking lot
Where boys play B-ball until the curfew is imposed
Petty thieves and muggers move into shadowed corners
Light waves can’t bend easily
Sound waves are the worst
Going on forever through time and space
One can hear a scream ten years from now
It’s just that you have to have ears
