Ok, I'm going out on a limb with this..."Do you look like you did in high school?  Could you be recognized by an old classmate today?"  

 

Here's how this post started:  This morning I was visiting with a dear friend, yes one from Gather, and we were talking about feeling old, as I told her I feel I have aged a lot in the last so many years and she said she didn't understand why she wasn't aging gracefully as some friends of hers and that some looked just like they did in high school.  I think she looks great, I don't know what she is talking about!  Well I couldn't understand how she wasn't aging gracefully when she had just told me she had no gray hair.  Then of course we talked about our hair color, both of us natural redheads, I told her how people used to argue with me what color my hair was, I always said that it wasn't red, but brown with a red tint.   This reminded me about a dinner party I had gone to a few months ago that everyone was to bring their senior picture and that when I had pulled the picture out; I couldn't believe how red my hair really was then.  One thing led to another and I said it might be fun to share a post on Gather whether or not you stilled looked like you did in high school.  She of course said "go for it", so here it is...

 

Do you still look like you did in high school? 

 

This is where I am putting myself out there; I have posted a picture of me from high school (the only picture I will share), this picture was taken the fall of 1973, at the beginning of my junior year and also a current one taken in September of 2008.    Now don't laugh too hard, I hate to have my picture taken (back then and yet today) and you know how high school photos are. 

 

Are you willing to share your high school photo?  Don't let me be the only one.

I recently ran into a few of my former classmates. They all say I haven't changed a bit. I remind them that my face hasn't changed, but my body is a bit fluffier!

When you've lost the "bloom of youth" forget it. Now the trick is just to try and have some dignity (and "airbrush" all your internet photos !!!).

People tell me that I look the same. But everytime we go home to visit my parents - no one recognizes me when we go out to the bar or bowling alley.

I havent changed a whole lot, I have a little gray hair... I have put on to much weight though... Back in the day, I only weighed 98 lbs......

Sarina - I don't think I look the same at all. Those I have seen at the reunions (I haven't missed any of them) would recognize me, those who haven't attended wouldn't.

Carol V - some times the ones you see regularly don't think you have changed because it is a gradual change, so it isn't noticed, for the ones who haven't seen you it makes a huge difference.

I did have a lot of hair then, still do now, I keep it shorter, much easier to take care of, dries much faster too!

My pictures are on my site. I don't have a high school photo but I have one of me at 31 and one of me at my granddaughter's wedding 3 years ago. I'm a lot thinner now than I was then but not as thin as the first picture. I think you look wonderful Kris and yes you still look like your high school picture. I like your hair in both of them.

Now Robert, you know as you age you gain more knowledge. In order for all that knowledge to fit in your head, your forehead has to grow! Didn't you know that?

Now women have a different method. Because childbirth removes brain cells and distributes them to each child, we compensate for that loss by having separate knowledge receptacles in our butts, hips and thighs. And this certainly explains why sometimes we walk into a room and forget why. When we go back and sit down, it activates the knowledge receptacles and we remember again. It's scientific!

Cathi, I tip my hat to all of you ladies... I have seen for many, many years I have been so amazed when I women have these children and I cannot fathom the dexterity by juggle the kids. Their hips apparently there for a place for the kids sit while a mother will do three or four times all at the same time, but we guys can hardly walk and chew at the same time...

Now, fir the butt, that's great, now a guy has a place to sit his coffee cup and ashtray without having to sit on our "Little Pot Bellies" now...

I'm not quite sure yet about those thighs, but I'll work on that situation to our benefit.

LOL, I'm only joshing, Joking, not serious... LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL

Robert, I'm so glad you shared your pictures, you still look great. As for the hair, I do agree with Cathi, you need to make room for your growing knowledge as I know you are a very intelligent man.

As for the baby on the hip, and the dexterity of juggling the kids, it's our method of weight lifting and exercise to get back into shape!!!!

That part was a serious note from me..., I would give all of you women the world for things I see, but we guys just don't have the hips, get the belly, but hips just don't come.

I saw your pic too and I think you look "Fabulous" from new to prime... if I had been around there, you would have had to keep me beat off with a stick...

I think Cheryl W is right you look the same just older. My mom graduated in 1973 and looking at your pic, she had the same hair! All the girls in her yearbook did! My mom didn't have your waves though, hers was stick straight and coal black. Natural. Now however, she has to color it.

I don't look the same, gained a few pounds, ya know. Was super skinny in high school, now however. . . I am trying though. But I don't have the fine lines or grays other people have in my class. And my hair is short now, so I don't think people would recognize me!

Denise, most every girl had the same hair style in the 70's, mine was more a fear of cutting it. My natural wave I now tame with serious hair products and a straight iron along with keeping it short and layered...not to mention the effect pregnancies had on it too. I weigh about the same a I did when I graduated from high school, however have gained since I got married.

You should share your picture with us and let us judge whether you have changed or not.
I don't think I look the same, but you and a few others think I do.

Yep both Dave and I look a LOT like we did in highschool. I don't have one of Dave up from thattime but our wedding pic from 1986 ( 3 yrs after grad) and my senior prom pic is on Gather. I am a fair bit fuffier but Dave is almost the same size he was then...he still wears shirts from then...much to my chagrin. ;-)
I burned my high school year book. Wise decision. That saved me from the embarassement of posting a high school picture now.

i'll have to find a photo...don't remember where i hid that yearbook. my face is the same, a lil' chubbier. i look diff. though. after high school, i slid down the ole' sin slide big time and i don't look nothing like my high school photo.

Dawn, you should post your picture.  I am getting ready to meet with old classmates to begin planning our next reunion.  I can't wait.  I am planning to crash my sisters reunion the end of July this year, she was a year ahead of me so I will know lots of people, I am hoping some of my classmates will want to go too, if anything we can get some ideas from them.  Thanks for commenting!

in high school, i was pentecostal...the hair bun, the long skirts and etc. i'm nothing like that now.

You may have been pentecostal, but I was the quiet, shy, wallflower.  It's amazing how life changes us!
I was raised pentecost, but luckily for me the local christian high school wouldn't admit pentecostals because the denomination is to "charismatic", whatever that means. So I went to public high school where I learned how to roll a fat one, drag race for cash, and buy beer without getting carded. Good times.
No, I am SO MUCH HOTTER NOW than I was in high school. (I keep telling myself that anyway.)
