State of emergency declared - severe winter weather!

Right now, our 4' fence isn't visible and it's STILL snowing!  We have a parade of snow storms that will be hitting our are all week long.

We are expecting another 2' - 3' of snow by the end of the week!

We keep shoveling and plowing and it just keeps adding up!  We are out of room to put our snow, our driveway keeps getting smaller. 

There are power outages all over, luckily ours is still on, but the roads and weather is so bad that in some places crews can't get in to fix the power.

 

 

This is INSANE and all over the news... 

Over the past few days the number of assaults on plow truck drivers, which have ranged from shovel throwing to gun threats, have continued to climb along with December's record snow levels.

We have flood watches out here in Mid MI. All the snow is melting and it is raining. Strangest fall and beginning of winter I have ever seen. Had up to 3 foot of snow on the ground when this started!!!

That would be the argument for having another power source. If you have another power source, with battery backup, you would be set even if the grid went down.

Wow, I sure am glad I don't live out there....LOL! Yesterday a lot of our snow melted, thank goodness, but then everything froze late last night, so we have ice all over....once again....haven't been out all day today! We don't have too much snow left here, thank goodness. None in the forecast for several days.

Where are you at? I'm in southeastern MI and we've been getting tons of rain and warmer weather - we're looking at flood warnings!!!!

That's just not right!!!!!! I do hope you have a back up heat plan other than electricity. Try to stay warm, it sounds like it's a difficult thing to do.

Hopefully it will let up soon. I am hoping that you guys are stocked up with everything that you need.
We had tornado watch's all night last night and flash flood warnings. It was storming all night long from 2:30am until this morning.

Here in Guelph, it was finally above freezing and a couple of thunderstorms rolled through today. GREAT! The majority of the plowed snow melted today.

Oh my goodness, that is terrible about the plow drivers. We were at about 60 today with rain mist all day. Very dreary, but at least we are not going through that.

Front of truck looks like mine covered with show., rained the other night, melted a lot of the snow. It is 54 degrees here right now.. We have ice and water in the yard.

I hope you don't have to go out unless you really have to. I'm sure with the weather there you have your car prepared incase you would stall.

This are the storms that shut down Portland for two weeks. We still cannot drive our street. 48 degrees and raining and we still have snow on roofs and roads. My pond is half covered with snow/ice. Sit tight. What we are getting as rain and floods will be snow when it gets to you.

Here, it is the garbage truck drivers who people hate. We are going on week three's worth of garbage...no UPS, no newspaper...and mail every 3 or 4 days when the mailman has the time to walk.

My stepmother said they were out of power for 4 days because of the storms and ice on everything. They live out in the country.

if everyone would expect these conditions - and b prepared, we would b in much better situations and safer. i've gotten used 2 dealing w/ snow but even with experience it is still vey dangerous 2 travel in these conditions - not being prepared means you will run out of resources

Ugh!! Time to build snowmen, igloos? hehe.

Michigan has had rain being dumped on us since very early morning hours. It's warmed up, strangely, and snow is melting.

A lot of my friends have been very happy by this, but the forecast for tomorrow is calling for another huge dump of snow.

That's not good! We've got all this rain, melting snow, and a ton of standing water, and tomorrow the temp. is going to drop and more snow... can we all spell... ICE?? LOL.

I have a feeling I'm going to be very happy that we don't have to go anywhere the next few days!!!!! I hope your family doesn't either... stay at home, get cozy and enjoy the time with each other.

I came to the Seattle area on Christmas Day. Snoqualmie Pass was better than the roads in Spokane! There is snow here and the side roads are a disaster. I had to park in a snow bank last night but fortunately with the rain, I was able to get out fairly easily this morning. What a mess!

We had horrible ice two days ago and 70 degree weather today.
I know I'm a tad warped, but.....I'd really love it if my family and I were all snowed in together! Sounds like heaven to me~

Wow! Although I enjoy snow, that's a bit much! lol We haven't had anything, here in our area of OK yet, not looking forward to the ice storms... ugh, I shudder just thinking about it! Keep safe, and warm!

People are assulting the snow plow drivers for NOT moving the snow fast enough and not in their "area" or neighborhood - it's totally insane! Hurting them won't get the snow moved any faster!
