I've been reading this book: What you Don't Know May Be Killing You by: Don Colbert M.D. and it has some great information in it. Some things just make sense and here is an example on water & our bodies.
1: When we remove water from grapes, what do we have? Raisins
2: When we remove water from our skins what is the result? Wrinkles
Tina Turner attributes her youthful look to drinking water.
Here is Dr. Colberts recommendations for drinking water
30 minutes before breakfast: 8oz
2.5 hours after breakfast: 8oz
30 minutes before lunch: 8oz
2.5 hours after lunch: 8oz
30 minutes before dinner: 16oz
2.5 hours after dinner: 8oz
30 minutes before bedtime: 8oz
He does not recommend drinking with meals. One reason is that drinking then washes out the enzymes in your stomach & intestines, which will delay digestion since your body much absorb the water before the food.
He also recommend a filter for your shower water (as well as your drinking water), because chlorine is added to our water & it causes our hair to become brittle & break off. It also dry's our skin out a lot. A shower filter will remove 95% of the chlorine from the water
Another Dr. cited in the book believes that 2 of the major factors contributing to most cancers are drinking chlorinated water and bathing/showering with chlorinated water.
- Caffeine is a diuretic & can cause you to loose water
- Water dehydration contributes to dozens of maladies - from hemorrhoids to arthritis
- Hot water leaches metal from your pipes (always use cold water)
So do you filter your water? Do you drink enough water everyday (coffee & juice does not count)?

I agree with all of these reasons listed above. I do drink water as is stated but I hardly know anyone who drinks enough water and they are usually the ones with arthritis and tons of other health problems as well as depression. If you smoke, you're usually not that thirsty. Also, if you are thirsty at night, then you are really dehydrated.
Squeezing fresh lemons in water is also good for alkalizing the system - that's another problem, in western Cultures, much of the food is more acidic in content and this tends to throw our whole pH systems off causing even more problems...ok I'll shut up...thanks my friend. Salud
I do drink enough water enough day, but I think I tend to drink it too fast & I should space it out a bit more than I have been.
Whenever I am at a restaurant I only order water with lemon & then I drink very little of it with my meal.
:)
I re-fill my water bottles a few times with tap water before I get rid of them.
Heather - I know it, but bottled water is one of my weakness's for some reason. It took me a long time to actually re-fill them & not just use them once.
I don't drink water 30 minutes before bedtime unless I want my night's sleep interrupted to have to pee. By shortly after dinner every day though, I've already had two quarts of water at a minimum. Yes, my water is filtered in every spigot in my house. I wrote a post on the benefits of water about a year ago or so.
This is really an interesting post. My husband works outside all year long. He drinks about a gallon of water just at work. Even with sundamaged skin he does not look as old as I do. We are the same age.
I am on medication that is making me retain fluid. I mean really bad. I wore my jeans one day and the next day I could not get them over my hips. No joke! I was surprised to find that my Doctor said he would rather not prescribe a pill for the fluid. Instead he suggested that I drink even more water. I thought this was odd. He explained that drinking water would help to get the fluid out of my body through natural methods.
