'Sopranos' Actor Shocks Fans With Holiday Suicide

The Brooklyn actor who played Johnny Cakes - the gay-fireman lover of a mob capo on "The Sopranos" - killed himself in a holiday tragedy that has stunned family and friends.

The front door to John Costelloe's Sunset Park home was still sealed with police stickers yesterday, more than a week after the rugged 47-year-old actor committed suicide.

How sad. I can't imagine the level of desperation someone must feel to even consider taking their own life. My heart aches every time I hear of a tragedy like this.

So sad he felt so alone, as if there was no one, or no way out of whatever drove him to this action. My condolences to his family and friends.

Thanks for the post, I did not know this had happened. Went to the link, his father's statement was so heartbreaking. The confusion that envelopes the loved ones, is matched only by the loneliness and desperation of the one who feels he/she has no alternative but to end their life. Ellen B

That is very sad. We think if we have money and are famous that being happy would be automatic, But some people are very sad any way.

Well, it sort of looks like money and fame don't cut it in the real world. This man had definite problems which were not dealt with in his life. He felt there was no way out. 'Very sad.
