We cooked, but we took the food TO a friend's house, and he "hosted' as the owner of the house, but we hosted as the ones who prepared the meal, so really there was no "one" host. It was a team effort. We loved it!
If I were to prepare a feast at my place...no one would show up to share it with me. Having no family and only one friend, who doesn't like my apartment because it's small, hot and there's nothing to do, he prefers to prepare Christmas dinner and have me over to his place. He's more comfortable in his own environment. Though he does the cooking, I still contribute appetizers/hors d'oeuvres and desserts as well as cookies and other goodies.
I would rather go to Family ... however, I don't get invited anymore. (Could I have done something wrong the last time? Perhaps it's because I don't contribute enough.)
it depends on the season...in the winter, I like to go to other peoples homes as I have a small house and 2 dogs and there is never enough room for alot of company..in the summer, I like to host the events because I have a nice big backyard with a firepit, pool, horseshoes pits and beautiful patio...so i guess i like to do both!
I would love to cook, or I would be willing to go to their place if i could spend time with my brothers for Christmas. I am hoping to at least get to see them on Saturday.
I would rather have them all here~Nice to have them back at home, besides Cheech and Chong, my birds would not be happy if they were left out of the Holiday~
Janie ~ I too love entertaining and it gives me the opportunity to try out new recipes that I have picked up here on Gather. Now that is a great bonus!! ;)
Meg ~ I know the craziness at my Mom's house as the party on the 23rd was c r a z y! The Gnarls Barkley song is perfect for her and the family and friends gatherings. CRAZY!
Doesn't really matter as long as I'm around people I love. I've always hosted and it's a tradition I love, but I'd imagine now that my daughter is married and starting a family, she might start hosting and I'd like that, too.

If I am going to any of my immediate family members it is completely cool but to anyone else's it wouldn't be quite as cozy. ;)
Ya'll are good friends to do that.
