God has a sense of humour.
I left Walker alone with his cooking, and decided to go to the Second Cup for a while. Unfortunately the blasted snow plow drivers do not work on Christmas eve. Just as the other day, it took me about 15 minutes to get to the cafe from the bus stop, no more than five houses up the street.
Upon leaving the cafe, I realized that the slush was too slushy for me to get down the ramp in the side walk, and that the snow was too high for me to step off and walk on the equally slushy road.
I decided to call a taxi.
I got in the cab, and heard an absolutely delicious accent. I thought I knew every cab driver in Guelph. He must have been a new one. Seems he just came over here from Serbia. OK, that explains the delicious accent.
YUMMY!!!!! We had a nice chat on the way home. When he told me where he was from, I joked that I had about a dozen Ivo Robic CDs he could translate for me. LOL Ivo's actually Croatian, but the languages are the same.
He noticed my Russian hat, and asked me a few questions, so I told him all about Walker, and how we met. I also told him about the nice collection of CDs that Walker has, by the Red Army Choir. He thought that was pretty neat.
The nice thing about the damn snow is that the cab moved slower than it would under good weather conditions. When we got to my place he drove around the building a few times looking for a safe place to let me out. Unfortunately the stupid snow was blocking everything.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have absolutely no balance when it comes to walking through snow drifts. Atleast when walking in shallow water I can swim if I need to, but that's no so with snow.
Is being carried over a snowbank a Serbian tradition, I wonder? *grin*If so, it's a good one.
He certainly earned his tip!!!!!
Who knew when I downloaded that "Let It Snow" ring tone into my cellphone that it would? tehehe
You want to know what the best part was? The best part was the big kiss and hug I got from my husband upon walking in the door. The apartment smelled like food cooking, he gave me a taste of the rice pudding, gave me a big kiss, and let me know that everything was ready to roll when Herb picks us up in half an hour. That's worth more than all the money and sexy Serbian drivers and snow, in the world!!!! :)
Merry Christmas to all, and may yours be as delicious as mine is shaping up to be. ;)
