I'm supposed to be working on my fiction paper...but what the heck, I needed a time out to prevent a brain explosion, so reloaded Gather and saw Sue's Christmas Eve Dabble and that seemed like a good idea to me, so here I am ... a'tippy-typing away (Ross' phrase) on Gather instead of working... I'll get back to it shortly though.
Was hoping to have this one sent off by Christmas but that's not happening ..... but should be able to get 'er done by Boxing Day before my sister in law and her hubby show up for dinner... hoping anyway. Once this paper is done, then I'm down to almost managable for things to do before the end of the year...
- 2 phd apps to finish
- 1 proposal re: a conference to write
- 20 essays and exams to mark, and interim grade sheets to complete
- 1 syllabus to write (using a new textbook this year so starting basically from scratch, yee haw)
- final edit and Works Cited for psychology paper (and book exam date)
- oh yeah, and the muscial, which has to be done by Jan 3.
Yikes... doesn't seem so managable when I write it all out like that! Bluddy hell ...whose dumb idea was this listmaking thing... oh, mine. Damn.
Anyway ... aside from school stuff, doing the Christmas thing tomorrow -
going to see the grandbabies in the morning, then to Oshawa to pick up Tamara; Lumpy will already be in Brampton as she's going tonight after work, but Tamara has to work until the wee hours and then walk home so rather than make her bus home, Ross said we could go pick her up (that's like a bigger Christmas present for me than anything he gives me - well, will be if he doesn't throw it in my face the next time he's mad at me, anyway). Then we're going to Andrea's for dinner and presents (my Mom will be there as well) ...and then we'll leave the kids there cuz it's easier for them to get home from there than it is from here and they both will have to go back to work so no one's coming up here over the holidays *sad*
and we even have our tree up ... nothing on it but lights, but Ross did bring it in and put lights on it for me; that's more than I expected.
I'm sure he will be glad when my wrists heal, poor guy - he's been doing all of the housework and ~stuff~ ever since the accident. I'm getting better at doing for myself these days... found ways to manage a lot of stuff (no thanks to the insurance company's OT person, who still hasn't shown up 4 weeks later) .... yesterday I even managed to get the groceries out of the cart and onto the counter cuz Ross was off looking for maple syrup... I looked like a total weirdo/gimp doing it, no doubt - especially picking up the bag of potatoes...but I did it - got everything out except for the big bag of dog food. Yay me.
Anyway ...we've got the family stuff tomorrow and the dinner on Boxing Day and having a few friends over for fondue again on New Years Eve ... and other than that, I will be tippy-typing my little fingers to the bone and getting everything done so that I can start back to school again on the 5th with a clean slate.
At least, that's the plan.
To all of my Gather friends ...I apologize for neglecting you of late... I feel bad :( ...but I do miss you and wish you only the best.

Merry Christmas (or whatever), and best wishes for you and yours for 2009 and beyond.

Have a great celebration!
and my little sister knows what Boxing Day is and how it really has nothing to do with boxing at all.
My Christmas greeting for everyone is HERE.
Have a good time tomorrow...or is it today already....
Please pardon me for butting in. Just let you know how much I enjoy your write. Feeling lonely here for being alone, and I browse around to find something that is amusing.
Have a safe season and all the best!
Enjoy your holidays, my dear friend - warmly from Moscow - S.
