This is the conclusion of my article What Is It and the answers to guessing the images about which it was written.
There were a few correct and more than a few close guesses.
First of all, the first and fifth images were both parts of the same object. Image one was part of the handle, and image number five was part of the blade. DIANE D., correctly guessed that image one was a handle, and Cassandra A correctly guessed that the handle was to a cleaver or hatchet. Seeing image five, Gene P., Cassandra A., and Lilith Dorsey all guessed correctly that it is, in fact a meat cleaver.
Image two was not entirely fair, as it is a hand made item, but several people guessed that it was crocheted. Matt L. and Cassandra A. were closest with respective guesses of scarf and doilies. The items were hair scrunchies. (I figure scarf is close because it is an accessory, and doilies are close because the scrunchies are made in the same style as doilies, so when I wear them, I am basically wearing hair doilies!)
Image three was guessed correctly by Cassandra A. and Lilith Dorsey as a banister. It is the banister on the steps to my front stoop. Close were guesses by Nanci M., (part of a fence) and DIANE D.,who guessed that the object was made of metal.
Image four is part of an object which represents a company which has been in the news of late, but I suppose the restricted view did make it hard to figure out. No one got this one. It is a Chrysler symbol hood ornament. To be specific, it's the one on the front of my 3-tone (blue, primer, and rust) 1991 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I wish it were a 1977 Fury instead... I miss that car, LOL!
Image 6 (as five is given above) was also very hard to guess, partly because I deliberately chose one with a pattern which could be mistaken for an upholstery pattern, and partly because the image provided was a close-up of it draped over a box instead of worn. The closest guess was Kristen (wishing I was in Austin) T.,who guessed a dress. The object is an article of clothing... it's a shirt.
The last item, image seven, had to be the toughest to guess. Nowhere in the image was there any possible clue as to the function of the image... and there were a few false leads. It looks metallic, and is curved, so it was logical to guess that it was a ring. It is shaped like one, after all. The belt buckle guess wasn't too far fetched, either, but that still wasn't quite it. The actual object is a drink carrier.
The images of the whole objects are now up in my album, What Is It so that you can see what they look like. Thanks for playing, everyone! It was really fun to see what everyone guessed. Maybe after Christmas, I will do this again. :D
Quick correction: somehow I missed a comment on one of my pics! DIANE D. did correctly guess that image number 4 was a hood ornament. Sorry I left you out, Diane!
