The kids are out of school today because of snow for the 4th day this week. But, they still expected me to go to work!
After scraping the snow and ice off my car I got in and started my journey. As I pulled out of the driveway and on to the street I realized this was the worst the streets have been. I barely made it up the first hill. As I turned the corner and started up the next hill my confidence began to falter.
The car slowed more and more until I came to a complete standstill. But, not for long! Sliding backwards, I swung the front of the car around, slide sideways for a few dozen yards then gave it a little gas to complete my 180 degree manuever.
Pointing back down the hill I managed to get to the parking lot. But, the adventure wasn't over yet. I slowed as I approached my parking space, a sidehill location. The space downhill from mine was empty... Luckily! As I slowly turned into the space I started sliding downhill. Now, I was parked in two spaces. Time to back out and loop around for another try,
Out to the street, up the hill, into the upper end of the parking lot, and ready for another try. But, before I could get anywhere close to my space I started sliding sideways. Feathering the accelerator I regained control... Almost.
Closer and closer to the parked cars on the downhill side of the parking lot. Traveling at about 2 miles an hour my car bumped a neighbor's bumper. Luckily, no damage to either car, though.
I managed to back up, over a curb and through some landscaping, out to the street. I parked the car on the street and walked to the apartment. When I walked in the door my 16 year-old gave me that "Why did you even try?" look.
I called the office and left a message. "I'll be staying home today!" It's just not worth it!
And to think I was suppose to be in Mexico right now! Oh, well...

I'm stitting here worrying about my husband.
I woke up to about a foot of new snow and it was still snowing.
I could see the tire tracks in the drive. I called his work and they said he was debating to try it or not. Looks like he did but that was over an hour ago.
Yeah, what's up with that, Rick? I'm used to seeing pictures of tropical birds over blue water and white sand from you this time of year!
Meanwhile, I'm anxiously awaiting our first big storm of the season. We've only had one dusting that only lasted half a day a couple of weeks ago, and I have NO Newport-in-snow shots for this year's Winter Solstice stuff that I do online. So my camera is out and I'm waiting. LOL!!!
I ended up with custody of my two teenage daughters. If that doesn't cause plans to change, I don't know what would!
I'm loving the changes and looking forward to a possible Spring trip with the girls!
Good Morning,
Thanks for stopping by my post.
Happy Holidays from my house to yours.
..............AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!
God Bless and have a great week!
