Well, we have, yet again, hung our mistletoe. It's from our first Christmas in 1973. I think I've changed out the ribbon once but can't remember, it's been too long ago. This is now it's 35th year up, and counting. Since it's plastic I'm sure it will last another 3500 years. So for generations to come, they will hang it saying my great-great-great-great-great mamaw and papaw hung this their first Christmas. lol
I have fought putting this up year after year because it is not the most attractive thing in the world. But it's the only thing we have left from our first Christmas, so it goes up.
The girls say they hate it but I am sure both have snuck a kiss under it with a boyfriend or two, truth be known. I know when we are dead and gone, one of them will hang it in their home. The only thing they will fight over is which one gets stuck with it. lol I can hear them now, "I'm not going to take it, you take it." "I'm not taking that ugly thing, you're the oldest, you should take it." "No, you're the baby, you take it." Hee-Hee! We should cut it in half and give them both their own piece of it. That'd teach 'em.
I just wanted to share a piece of our first Christmas. This is going to be a tradition with me from now on, sharing my mistletoe every Christmas Season with you all. Hey, you should enjoy it as much as we do.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
