OMG, I am so furious right now, I've been crying because I'm SO upset! About an hour ago I decided to go into town despite the snow and pick up something for dinner! I'm not afraid to drive in the snow and it's something I've done since I was a teenager.
Earlier today, they plowed the road we live on and of course they didn't swoop into our driveway a bit and clear the wall of snow they left behind. So, there was a mound of snow at the end of our driveway that I had to drive through, something I've done every winter.
Well, the wall of snow stopped me dea in my tracks, I could go through and then I couldn't back up either. I was STUCK at the end of our driveway with both kids bundled up in their seats.
I TRY to go forward and then backwards, again, again and I'm not moving! So, I go get a shovel off the porch and start digging the front of my truck out. The snow was to the TOP of my hood and packed solid.
As I'm digging my way out, I'm standing in the main road! Not one, not two, but FOUR of our neighbors drive by without even stopping to see if I could use some help! WE live on a private road in a small community where you would assume that neighbors still help neighbors! Last year my husband helped several of our neighbors who were stuck on our road - one of which had the same thing happen to him ans happened to me today.
How could they not stop? I'm still so upset. It took me almost 30 minutes to dig myself out so that I could get my pickup backed up into the driveway. I parked it and came inside crying like a BIG baby.
My husband is out of town and won't be home until Sunday at the earliest. I called my brother-in-law and he's on his way to plow me out, he will be here in about 30 minutes.
I'm mad at myself because I got stuck in the first place. And so upset because the neighbors were so rude and thoughtless that they didn't even stop to offer a hand!
Thanks for letting me vent!

I hope you feel better now though
A few years ago someone got stuck on our road and everyone just ignored it. As soon as Matt got home he went out there with his truck and pulled the guy out. He always has stuff in the truck to help someone.
I have wonderful neighbors, my parents!!
When my borther-in-law was here plowing our drive-way out, I could see down the road where ANOTHER neighbor was stuck! A neighbor who DIDN'T Stop to help me! I hate to say it but ... HA HA!
I'm really sorry this happened. It's always worse when you are alone. I was a single mom most of my life and I was very lucky to attract help when I needed it. You'll have to practice looking helpless more. (just kidding)
I am glad you got out !
You are SO right! If I help them next time they are stuck, they will feel SO small! That's the PERFECT revenge! :) I'll start practicing my "helpless" look in the mirror right now! LOL!
We have the ice storm happening now....I won't drive for probably 3, 4 or maybe even 5 days! Stay home and stay warm!!!!
I also learned if I had to do it now I couldn't because of my leg. I would have to pay someone to do it.
As for those who by passed you. Please don't judge them to harshly. You never know why they didn't stop.
It could be possible they have problems breathing being out in the cold to long, or other health problems that prevent them that you didn't know about.
Also they may not of realize you had kids in the car with you.
Thirdly, they seen you with a shovel and though now there is a smart woman who knows how to get herself unstuck.
Or fourthly, they were on their way to work or some appointment and didn't have to time to help out.
We are having a bad ice storm right now. We are getting lots of rain and it's turning to ice all over the ground. I think we will be stuck in the house for the next day or so.
I know that thinking back NOW, that there are SO many reasons why they may not have stopped. I was obviouosly doing something about it and getting myself out! I wasn't just standing there waiting, like many people do! LOL!
I'm emotional and stressed right now for many different reasons and I know that's why I cried and got so upset over a rather simple incident! :)
THANKS EVERYONE!
I can remember a time when I was dumb enough to attempt to go to work. On my way pulling in to the babysitters. I put my car stuck. Not once but twice. Oh yes. As soon as her son helped me get out from being stuck. I did it again not even five minutes later in the very same spot. You talk about being embarrassed as all get out. needless to say after that happen I went home. I was not about to go into work after that. So trust me when I say I understand being upset and the frustration that comes with it. As two of my kids were with me and cried the whole time. One was still in an a infant seat. The other was to short to walk through the snow. I had to figure out which kid I was leaving in the the car while I went to the sitters who has a long long drive way. Praying nobody else came my way and hit my car.
As soon as spring hit, I went and bought a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
It's a busy time of year and the neighbors may have figured your hubby was home and had everything under control.
Anyway, I'm sorry it made you cry and how lucky for you that you had someone to call.
I was very fortunate, between him and two other men, none of which I knew, they were able to get me and my son home. I was a little scared to accept the help from three strange men, but thanks to the kindess of strangers, I was able to get home safely.
I am so sorry that you went through that with your own neighbors.
