SNOW: 18" expected overnight!

Wow, winter is definately here and it's not messing around either.  It's been snowing since early this morning and we currently have about 13 inches of snow!  The snow is NOT letting up and we are under a SEVERE STORM WATCH through tomorrow afternoon. 

We are expected to get 18+ inches of snowfall overnight!  A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST THURSDAY!

My fingers are crossed and I'm praying for a snow day tomorrow! LOL!

 

*At the time I posted this, there were 2 school closures, 20 minutes later there are now 4!  I'll update later!

The kids haven't gone to school for 3 days this week because of snow & ice and then today it warmed up enough for a little rain/ice mix and now it's snowing and freezing over! I highly doubt there will be school tomorrow either. No update yet, but we're checking the news station website to see.

yikes. We had some sleet / freezing rain last night and are supposed to get snow on Friday but not as much as you. I just hope it doesn't effect my flight on Saturday morning.
A snow day would be great, I hate the thought of buses running in that much snow. I would like to see photos, hint, hint!!

I guess I'm crazy but I love snow. Six degrees is a bit chilly though. I'm in south central Idaho in Twin Falls and we are only getting 6-8 inches from this storm. I have some great wire things that slip over my snow boots and I don't slip, even on ice. Important for an old lady. Being retired probably helps my outlook on snow, no kids to get to school, no work to get to, I can make soup while wearing jammies and bunny slippers and spend the day at Gather.

The hysterical weather forecaster said we might set a 24 hr record for snowfall. Last year we kept setting records and I really don't need more records THIS year. I do NOT want a snow day tomorrow! But I bet we will get it. This is just too much snow for the busses to be able to negotiate easily. My grandkids don't ride the bus but a lot of kids do.

Sandy, I love snow too! I did get sick of it last winter though!

Wilma, Chandler doesn't ride the bus either, I take him and pick him up every day! Indeed, i'm glad the bitter cold is gone atleast - that was brutal!

Wow, and it was almost 70 degrees here today...very odd weather we are having.

Angela rides the bus home from school, but she has to be there early most days, so I take her on those days.

It's snowing here right now, but I don't think we are supposed to get all that much. I just wish it would warm up! I don't think it ever hit 0 today. If it didn't, it hasn't since Saturday afternoon. This is really cold for December even for North Dakota!
