Gather is giving away two copies of Boz Scagg's new vinyl LP "Speak Low". (That's right, we're giving away the record – not the CD). These records are signed by Grammy winner, Boz Scaggs!
For your chance to receive one of these two records, in the comment field below, tell us the first record (not CD) you ever bought. Comments must be posted by Sunday, December 21st. Gather will randomly draw two respondents to receive "Speak Low".

Carpenters by The Carpenters was my first one. ;)
When I was old enough to first get into music, cassettes were what you bought. They were followed very shortly by CDs.
I'll have to ask my husband what his first record purchase was. I would guarantee it was a classical LP of some kind. He had an enormous LP collection that was being stored at his oldest son's house; however, the house caught on fire and everything inside went up into flames. Talk about disappointment!! He had the early Led Zeppelins (and tons of other things). We have wished ever since that we had brought the collection to our home here in SC.
I still enjoy listening to vinyl, and have a decent collection, although it isn't nearly as big as most of my friends.
i've been working on rebuilding it since then, but a lot of them i can never get back.
Boz has put out some incredible albums in the last few years, especially "Dig" and "Come On Home", both staples on my ipod.
First record ... Herb Alpret & Tijuana Brass ... it was either "South of the Border" or "Going Places" ...sheesh who remembers ... I was like 9 or 10!
My cousin had given me her old record player. I cried for weeks.
I remember coming home with that record and my mother just not happy about my grandma letting me listen to that rock and roll. Grandma said I earned it and it was mine and my mother knew if she threw it away, Grandma would just get me another one. I had a bunch of Peter Pan kids' records so I knew how to operate the record player. I listened to that record every chance I got and would put the record carefully back in its sleeve when I finished playing. I drove her crazy singing "yeah, yeah, yeah". I still have it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I have 2 record players and love the sound!!
The first vinyl album I ever purchased was the Sountrack album to the Muppet Movie. I can't remember how old I was but I loved the music.
2. Milford college
3. Boedicea
4. Aniron and May it be
5. Shepherd Moons i love the music
It went something like this:
"Here they come, pouring out of the blue,
Little arrows for me and for you.
We're falling, inlove again, yes falling, in love again
Little arrows in your clothing, little arrows in your hair
When you're inlove, you'll find those little arrows everywhere
Little Arrows that will hit you once, and hit you once again
Little arrows that will hit you hard, every now and then.....
Oh, Oh.....the pain.
Some folks arun, and others hide
but there's nothing they can do
some folks put on armour, but the arrows go right through
Is it me, or is it you, it's not very hard to miss
cause you'll know it when they hit you, cause they hurt a little bit.....
Oh, Oh.......The Pain.
*GIGGLE* Ahhhhhhh the memories! :0)
The first record I ever owned was the single Dude Looks Like a Lady I was only maybe 5 when my parents gave it to me but I loved that song, lol. I picked that one out!
The first record I ever purchased I believe was a Johnny Cash Man in Black album from a used record store.
"...all that's left is this band of gold and the memories of what love could be, if you were still here with me...."
