I remember one year we spent $0. on Christmas gifts. We did however purchase paint, flour etc to make our own gifts for giving including our own daughters. To be totally honest, it was the BEST Christmas I can remember having in a long time. No stress, only the wonderful feelings that only making personal gifts can give. There is no way to describe the feeling that you get when you are thinking of each individual as you hand- make each gift. Amazing to say the least.
There are many ways to make frugal gifts for Christmas. Yes, it is even possible to make really nice gifts for the kids. Each of us are talented in different areas so not all gifts are perfect for us as individuals to make. My Husband is very talented at woodworking. I on the other hand am not.
I could not get all the pices to this set in one photo so I had to take each one individually. Each one has a movable part or exciting part to keep the kids interesnted. I will try to explain them as I post the photos. This was the nearest I could do at getting the most parts in one photo.

As the child hits his ball through over the bridge, the monkey swings.

There is a clown on each side of the bridge and the ball is hit through the bridge.

This is a better view at the bridge.

The ball is hit over the bridge between the elephants. Each bridge has a variation so it is not as easy as it looks. There is some skill required. But kids learn skills much faster than we give them credit for.

Just a shot at some of the animals in the set. Each one is hand painted by my husband.

Here is just a shot of the various bridges that are crossed

Notice the different numbers on the flags. The dowels and balls wooden balls on top are purchased from a craft store. The rest is homemade.

I just wanted to show you how the money swings back and forth as the ball goes over the bridge. YES I bite my finger nails!

This is one of the Golf clubs he made for the set. It seemed to blend in with my sewing table. Sorry about that. I took all these photos on my sewing table.
Now you have it the entire miniture golf set that my husband made for Christmas gifts for the Grandkids.

The dowels come out for easy storage.
