I GOT GAS or WHAT'S UP WITh GEORGIA

Howdy from Texas, now that I am once again back in the land of sexy senoritas and saucy jalapenos; or is that saucy senoritas and sexy jalapenos?  In either case, I am back.  I completed my move from San Antonio to Houston via Myrtle Beach by getting on I-20 in Florence, SC and heading west.  That is the only road I traveled until I got all the way to Dallas.  Why didn't I take my usual route southward through Missisippi to the Bayou country, seeing it's much shorter?  Well, only one of you know that.

It was the weekend of December 6th and I drove straight through only stopping for catnaps and of course, once per state for gas.  Being the faithful Gatherer that I am, I took the time to document, for your enjoyment, the prices I paid for gas:  gasoline, not flatulence.  Although the flatulence I experienced was from a $3.99 lunch in Louisiana, but we won't go there.

The only question coming from all this is: "What is up with Georgia?"

Our gasoline prices have gone down - you must be near Atlanta or something. I was up in Athens this weekend and their gas is more expensive than ours down here in Savannah

So you went from San Antonio to Dallas via Houston and you stopped by in S. Carolina and Georgia and Louisiana? Well, I am not the one who knows why you did not go the short route, but I am guessing it is personal.

We have about $1.65 for regular at my local cheapie. There are a few cheaper ones, miles away, probably around LA's $1.50.

Yesterday, the $1.65 was $1.61 but when I went to Montreal last week, it was $1.75 then $1.69.

Right now, here in metro Atlanta, gas is around $1.59 a gallon. I don't know where in Georgia you were, but they ripped you off.

Its like in Nebeaska where i live ,the north side of town is higher than the south side of town.can't figure out why north would be any better than south side of town.its all gas.

1.22 is cheap. Here in town in Va., we have an independant owner of our Exxon and it's the only gas station in town (small one light town), he is at 1.99 a gallon. He figures he is giving us a deal being under 2.00... you have to drive 15 miles either way to get to another station.. old fart he is.

I paid $1.39 for gas in an Atlanta Costco on Friday. It is $147.00 Atlanta area Raceway stores.

Our prices float between 1.40 and 1.60 depending where you are in Central NJ.

Gas this morning in Toronto is 75 cents a litre... about 75 cents a quart. Three bucks a gallon... of course that's in Canadian... so that will be about $2.10 a gallon U.S. What's up with THAT???

Nice to know you are getting our Canadian petroleum at a discount price these days. Here in Bancroft, Canada we're paying 69.9 cents per litre, or $2.64 Canadian per American gallon. With an exchange rate currently at 83.6 cents US to the Canuck buck, that works out to $2.21/gallon (that we're paying for our own gas that you can get cheaper).

I think you owe me $0.56/gallon on your trip. Having filled up six times, I suppose that could amount to something in the neighbourhood of a couple of hundred bucks. That'll help with Christmas!
