I got someone arrested tonight!

Earlier tonight, I was on my way to meet my wife to do a little Christmas shopping. I was westbound on Interstate 10 and noticed the car in front of me was weaving all over the road. The driver was in the middle lane, but going back and forth between the left and right lanes. I followed behind her because I was worried about getting sideswiped if I passed. After watching her run two other vehicles off the road, including almost putting one car into the median wall, I called the police. I gave the dispatcher the car's tag number and a description of the vehicle's make and model.

Just a little while ago, I checked the local online jail docket and saw where someone from the county of the tag I reported had been arrested for their 2nd DUI, wreckless driving, driving on a suspended license, and having no insurance. It had to have been her! She was arrested at the next exit from where I had called in the report, and the timing of everything was just right.

Imagine if this woman had hit someone...and she didn't even have insurance! It pisses me off that she was released than an hour after she was booked.

Hopefully a lesson learned....she will not have an easy time dealing with her bad decisions to drive while impaired.

Good job -- at least for you! I think we should just take all the chronic OWIs and put them in their own little "Safetytown" -- then they can crash into each other instead of us! Thanks for being a good citizen and relating your amazing account -- we need more alert people like that!

Good for you, Bill. Sadly, many counties and states let this happen again and again and again. And when they take the licenses away, the drunk driving continues. I know one guy in Texas that had 12 DUIs before they made him do any prison time. Then...once that happened and he violated parole, he ended up with 15 years. He never hurt anyone, but he could have. And that's the point.

Good for you! More people should do things like that. I've gotten state government employees in trouble for speeding by calling the state police but never nailed a drunk.

I think you did a good thing BIll. You may of saved someones life..... I think we need stricker laws but here is what a policeman told me just recently on this subject... THat by putting these people in jail, it costs the county so much money a day to pay for them to be in jail , so they release them.. Of couse, they are free to go back into society, drink , drive kill or maim again... Which is what happened here... A man was caught 3 times for DUI, the last time he called an innocent man...The higher ups are in on it too.... they dont want to pay the fees... Then we wonder why, there is no value placed on human lives....

YOu did a good thing. As for hurting her......huh???? What about the innocents on the road? He probably did HELP her, I know he helped many people on the road that night.

Drinking and driving is one of my biggest pet peeves.
I hate drinkers whom think this is okay.

costs the jail money?
A person who spends even an hour in jail must pay 20 dollars a day to be there. In Mn, it costs someone over 2000.00 for a dwi, that is the fine, and to get license back...and that is for a first offense also, which doesn't always mean drunk, the limit is so low that one beer makes you over the limit. There was a 68 yr old women arrested for having one glass of wine at lunch that made her over the limit and she went to church every sunday, never been arrrested a day in her life and was a grandma of 12 kids, but one glass cost her 2000.00 and have to go to an assement with drug addicts!

Good for you, Bill. I don't think you hurt her in any way---she was the one that was out there with the potential to hurt someone. And, this was her 2nd offense? That's terrible. Hopefully, she will get a stronger sentence this time around.

Think about it this way, you could have saved somebodies life just by getting her off the road that night.

What is a "tag" number? Is that the same as a licence plate?

And good for you for getting her arrested!! Too bad they let her go. I atleast hope they kept her damn car.

Yes, tag # = license plate. Well, she bonded out, but I hope she got something for it.
